When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 267

Since she had no scenes in the morning, Artina asked Charlotte for time off and left the film set.

She boldly made her way to the Nash family estate.

When the housekeeper announced her arrival, Zelina Gilmore was a bit surprised, but she allowed Artina into the mansion.

Artina entered the main hall, her face pale and haggard.

Still, her youth gave her an air of tragic beauty, like a delicate creature caught in a storm.

Zelina was taken aback by her appearance.

Just a few days ago, the girl had been glowing, clearly cherished and doted on by Jethro.

What had happened in such a short time to change her so drastically?

Had they fought and broken up?

Had her son finally come to his senses and seen her questionable character?

Zelina appeared to be a gentle and graceful middle-aged woman, approachable and kind-eyed.

Although she harbored many doubts about Artina, she maintained a proper demeanor. "What can I do for you? Please, have a seat. Where's Jethro? Why did you come alone?" she asked, her mind racing with possibilities. Had her son done something to her, and was she here to demand an explanation?

Artina didn't dare to sit.

Instead, tears immediately began to stream down her face, and she sobbed with heartbreaking despair.

This startled Zelina. "What... what is all this? What's the meaning of these tears? Did my son do something to wrong you?"

Artina cried out, "Ma'am, I need to speak with you alone."

Zelina raised an eyebrow but dismissed the servants, keeping only a housekeeper in her fifties by her side. "You can speak freely. Mrs. Lew is completely loyal to this family."

Artina dropped to her knees, her cries sounding as if her heart was breaking, and repeated the same story she had told Leticia.

She sobbed so hard she could barely breathe, telling the tale in ragged, broken gasps.

Zelina was stunned.

For a long moment, she couldn't process it. When she finally did, a towering rage erupted within her. "How dare you deceive my son like this! How have you the gall to come here and cry to me! Mrs. Lew!"

Mrs. Lew, equally furious, rolled up her sleeves, strode forward, and struck Artina across the face again and again until the girl was reeling.

*Smack, smack, smack, smack!* She only stopped when she was out of breath, panting with rage. "Jethro and Leticia are my mistress's entire world! How dare you humiliate Mr. Jethro like this! You're asking for death!"

Artina was shocked. The act that had worked so well on Leticia had utterly failed.
