When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 331

After she finished speaking, Pamela turned and slapped Leon across the face. "I told you to watch your mouth! I told you not to let lust cloud your judgment and try to steal your brother's woman!"

She hit him repeatedly as she spoke, venting all her anger.

Leon didn't dare to make a sound.

Matteo Coleman started, "Henrietta…"

Before he could finish, Henrietta cut him off. "There's nothing more to say. I've told you my terms. Take them or leave them. If you don't accept, I'll withdraw the offer."

Matteo was left speechless. He could only stare at her, his eyes filled with an extraordinary amount of pain.

Then, he closed his eyes in agony as tears streamed down his face.

Perhaps… he thought it was a deeply moving performance.

To the Coleman family, it certainly looked that way—a display of affection that could move heaven and earth.

But to Henrietta and her group, it was just a pathetic joke.

"Let's go," Yosef Nash said.

Henrietta nodded.

The two of them turned and walked away.

After that tense negotiation, the Coleman family had no reason to pester them any further.

They could only watch them leave.

Once she was sure Henrietta and the others were gone, Pamela started beating Leon again. "This is all your fault! If it weren't for you, Henrietta would have already reconciled with Matteo!"

Leon felt deeply wronged. What did this have to do with him?

Even before he had gone to "snitch" on Henrietta, she had been refusing to reconcile.

How was this suddenly his fault?

Leon's face was flushed from the slaps, but he only dared to whimper for mercy, not saying anything else.

Just then, Matteo spoke wearily, "That's enough. Stop fighting. Let it be… just let it be."

He knew with painful clarity that he and Henrietta… were finished.

Even if it was more tiring, it was still far better than what most people had.

Artina’s shoulders slumped as her confidence withered. "I guess that's all we can do."

She was still unwilling to accept it!

She thought this was their last, best shot—a gamble with high hopes and a great chance of winning.

She never imagined it would be completely useless.

And Matteo had almost lost his life in the process.

Matteo looked at her. "What did you say to that guy? Why was he so ruthless?"

It was supposed to be a scheme, but that knife was genuinely aimed to kill.

Artina said tiredly, "Of course I didn't tell him to use lethal force. Who knew he would be so vicious?"

That's why Artina had been genuinely terrified at the time; it wasn't an act.

Matteo, looking as if he had lost all will to live, just said, "This is where it ends."
