When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 347

But that’s how it is with people sometimes. Happiness, even when you feel it firsthand, can be an illusion.

And for Sherry, what was more awkward was that while she was still smiling shyly, basking in her happiness…

Quinton couldn't stop himself from looking at Henrietta again.

It even felt as if the words he’d just said weren't for Sherry at all, but for Henrietta.

Henrietta, of course, sensed this subtle tension.

But she said nothing. Let it be awkward if it was going to be awkward.

She didn’t really care about much these days, especially not about these men.

Fortunately, Sherry didn't notice a thing and continued to happily pick out wedding dresses.

They spent two or three hours choosing, and Henrietta was starting to feel tired.

They finally finished, but by then, it was time for lunch.

Sherry suggested eating in the commercial district, and Quinton naturally had no objection.

Henrietta didn’t object either. After all that choosing, she was tired and hungry.

However, when it came to picking a restaurant, Sherry hesitated, choosing a mid-range place instead of the most high-end one in the area.

Sherry probably did this to show that she wasn't some kind of gold digger.

But Quinton shook his head directly. “Not this one. Henrietta wouldn't be used to this kind of food.”

To this, Henrietta just said, “I don’t mind. Whatever Sherry picks is fine.”

Now Sherry felt embarrassed, feeling as though she had handled the situation poorly. She said, “Oh, look at me. I forgot Henrietta is used to a life of luxury and naturally deserves the best of everything.”

She then pointed to her phone. “Let’s go to this one then.”

Quinton nodded, finally agreeing.

Henrietta thought for a moment. She knew she shouldn’t meddle, but she still said to Sherry, “Sherry, since you’re marrying Quinton, you don’t need to worry about saving his money. You should always choose the best in terms of food, clothes, and lifestyle.”

But after agreeing, Sherry, perhaps trying to explain herself, added, “I was just thinking, since it’s just lunch, we could eat casually. It's always good to save a little.”

To this, Henrietta said nothing, merely pursing her lips.

Quinton, however, was clearly displeased. His voice took on a serious tone as he said, “Just do as Henrietta says. The Sargent family doesn't need to save money, and besides, there are only three of us. How much could we possibly eat?”

Sherry froze, looking at Quinton, seemingly a little hurt.

But since both Sargent siblings were telling her not to be frugal, it was actually a good thing.

So, after a couple of seconds of feeling hurt, Sherry said, “Okay, I understand.”

Henrietta thought for a moment and decided to be direct with Sherry. “Sherry, the Sargent family doesn’t need to be frugal, and we certainly don’t need our daughter-in-law to pinch pennies for us. If you keep saying things like that, people will laugh at us.”

Sherry was smart enough to understand the meaning behind those words.

She quickly said, “Okay, I get it. I won't say things like that anymore.”
