The blonde one starts laughing like I’ve said the funniest thing he’s heard all semester. I roll my eyes and that’s when I hear the clap.

Everyone looks up to see Honey…standing at the junction of the hallway, hands coming apart from the clap, and her eyes do a sweep of us all. They land on me with recognition, and then she addresses the corridor at large.

*Students, your classes have started. Please head over now.”

Lolly grabs my arm.

That’s how we extract ourselves from whatever that was. Plus, the general shuffle of a hundred students deciding that yes. actually, class is probably where they should be. The girl in glasses stays tucked behind us as we move, and I slow down just enough at the class room to do a proper introduction.

“As long as you’re not gonna be in trouble with those… animals every single day.” Lolly says, already scanning the busy classroom for seats.

Wren looks immediately for somewhere else to sit.

“You can sit with us. I’m only here for four months and I’d genuinely like to know what on earth is going on in this school.” I smile so she can see I’m not another Cassie situation. “You look like someone who knows things.”

Something in her face relaxes by about thirty percent. She nods.

Lolly waves us over cause she’s found three seats together near the middle, which is perfect, not too front, not too back, the sweet spot of existing without being volunteered for things and we settle in.\

“So what’s the deal with everyone looking at the blonde and dark hair… twin losers?” I ask, pulling out my notebook and the two girls sitting directly in front of me turn around at the sound of it, take one look at my face, and rotate back to the front as if I’ve personally offended them by naming the Twin Alphas with a physical description.

“New students are usually already scared of them by now. How are you not scared of them?”

Well.

The right answer is: because I have a mate who would kick their ass. Or because my father is an Alpha. Or because my brother and Silver would utterly destroy them….that’s if Emris doesn’t get to them faster.
