Rightly as Demetra and I opened our eyes in the private jet, we had touched down in West Virginia at nine in the morning. The kids are currently at the Lion Pride so that’s where we’re touching ground first. Something about Aunt Scotty making a feast for our arrival already has me hungry, and the other part is…this would be the first time I’m visiting the Lion Pride pack without coming to wage some kind of war against them.

I’m coming as a good son–in–law this time and I genuinely hope they’ve forgotten every single occasion I brought hell to their territory.

I open the door for Demetra who is still sleeping with her hair in a complete frenzy and I chuckle but keep it cool. The moment she enters, still wearing my hoodie from Rockville last night. Silver has everything in the booth and I see Lolly leaving in a separate taxi, waving at us from the window.

“Thanks for the vacation.” Silver stretches. “Next time let’s do somewhere like… Egypt.”

I ignore him, getting into the seat while he finishes before entering too.

Demetra places her head on my shoulder and continues her sleep there. She’s not gonna have any more of it once she sees the kids, so I’m gonna let her have it.

I look down at my phone…knowing for sure that Demetra is sleeping and I open the footage Zayn sent me of Regan. I zoom in. His hair looks crazy. His beard’s all grown like someone who is truly living somewhere that doesn’t have direct access to a barbering salon. I’m thinking of what to do with me. Do I make a trip and destroy him?

“The Crestville pack is coming right at the end of this week with their doctors.”

“Shit.” I push my neck back a bit. Demetra stirs…not wanting me to move from the position because she’s sleeping that deep. “What?” Silver asks. I give Silver a glance toward Demetra and he understands immediately that now is not the time.

In the next forty minutes, the Lion Pride gates open to us. I murmur at Demetra to wake up as we’re finally home. Slowly, she opens her eyes and smiles. I kiss her forehead.

It takes a total of seven minutes to drive to the pack house where we see the kids holding two posters that they very clearly painted themselves, screaming at the top of their lungs.

Demetra and I come out together but both kids run to her first.

“Mommy!”

“Oh, my moons.” Demetra hugs them from her knees as they bury their faces in her shoulders. “Look at you two. How are you? I’ve missed you guys so much. Milo, where are your teeth!?”

I start chuckling. And then they see me.

“Daddy!”

Milo finally registers me. “Daddy!”

“Hey prince” I pick him up and reach for Amira simultaneously and manage both of them with kisses distributed equally. I see Demetra hugging Slade over the kids shoulders and I put them down and shake him after, and Alpha Ronin gives me a

“Oh, so.” Aunt Scotty kisses me right on the lips and I can’t even report to Demetra because she’s hugging Tiffany and Sabrina.

We shake hands and move into the house.

“Emris, Demetra… go wash up. The table will be laid in about forty minutes.”

I ruffle Milo’s hair as he runs circles around Amira and I take my first real look at the Lion Pride pack house interior.

The floor is marble with gold running through it in natural veins. The ceiling carries architectural work that was clearly designed by someone who understood that a room’s ambition lives above eye level… carved arches and detail work.

The sitting area is warm gold and deep green. I genuinely disliked these people for years. I looked at the Lion Pride and decided they were too proud of their own name. Standing in this house I’m revising that slightly.

Slade walks over.

“I don’t think I’ve given you a tour.”

“Then you better give me one now.” I catch Sabrina looking at both of us from across the room and I nod at her. She smiles back but there’s something in the look she gives Slade before she turns away.

“What have you done.” I ask.

“Oh, you have no idea.”

We walk together and I put my hand in my pocket.
