Luna Demetra.

When we get home, the kids are already fast asleep in their separate beds. I kiss Amira over her forehead before adjusting the teddy bear from her face. I go look at Milo and take out the racing cars from his hands…he smiles in his sleep for some reason, which makes me chuckle as 1 tuck him better before switching off the light and shutting their door.

I roll my shoulders in the hallway and feel the crack travel across both of them. The bath needs to be hot tonight.

I text Wren to check she’s okay, she texts back immediately, and we say goodnight to each other. I strip off my clothes and get into the shower. The water is scalding…which is perfect as it melts the tension from my neck, my shoulders, my back.

Once that’s done, my breakfast has already been brought into my bedroom while I was in the steaming shower. I take bites of the food as I blow-dry my hair. At the same time, I turn on my laptop to do my own research so I can understand what is really going on with Laura’s family and her proximity to the Barbarian Pack.

I want every piece of information the internet has on how Radius operates.

I clear the entire plate of food while doodling and making sure I am keeping tabs of the information I see on the screen. Past Alphas. The families of the multiple Lunas Radius currently holds.

I’m shocked to see the packs those Lunas came from do not subscribe to the multiple Luna culture… so what exactly made them surrender their daughters to a wolf like him? That’s the question that sits underneath everything else. It has to be force. It has to be something he holds over them that turns a no into a yes without a fight.

I croak my already tired neck and put down the names of their packs. I’ll have to find them out one by one but I’m so sleepy.

After I go brush my

teeth, I’m supposed to return to the research but I stare at my bed and it looks so perfect right now. Maybe I should just keep working there…I transfer the laptop to the bed. But once my body touches that soft, fluffy cushion, I go straight to heaven and fall asleep.

Of course, I’m aware of the moment Emris enters. He takes the laptop, pens, everything away. I can always feel the weight of his body on the bed and the occasional kisses over my face. I also feel him tuck self under the sheets and pull the blankets

over us.

I feel his hand against my breasts. I caress it there, pushing myself into him cause his body is so cozy and it adds an extra layer of blanket.

But of course, when I wake up, it’s literally 11 a.m.

ELEVEN!!!!

I jump up, startled, in pajamas.

Of course, Emris wouldn’t wake me up. He would rather go through the pack meeting on his own and handle the elders

than allow me to be there at 6 a.m!

The other upside to not being there for the pack meeting is that he gets to insult the elders and maybe throw one of them across the room without his Luna going, “Emris, please.”

Chapter 208

#hes up for a pokecting, that means I slept through getting the kids ready for school.

I race to the kids room and they are not there anymore-

Rose is coming back into the hallway when she sees me.

“Oh, Luna

“Um.” I catch my breath. “I completely forgot to get up to get the kids ready”

“The Alpha already got them ready. They’re in the car. I forgot to get Amira’s teddy bear.”

I whirl around as she enters the room.

“But Emris is having a pack meeting, isn’t he?”

“Yes, Luna. But I think there were short breaks in between.”

“Oh.” I put my hand through my unruly hair. “So, the kids?”

“In the car.” Rose laughs at me.

I can’t believe I slept for so long. I throw my head back and groan.

“You can still catch up with the kids if you come with me now. The Alpha has gone back into the pack meeting.”

I follow Rose downstairs in my dinosaur pajamas with poofy unsettled hair and wave the kids off to school through the car window. I’m in the driveway when I realize that the pack is in full operation around me. Gammas are moving, staff are crossing the grounds, Deltas are rotating and roughly half of them have now seen their Luna looking like this!

I rush back upstairs and take another warm shower.

When I come out, I brush my hair until it behaves and put on a brown checker skirt that stops past the knee with a long slit running up to mid-thigh, along with a bow sitting in the space where the slit begins. Coupled with a long-sleeve black fitted

sweater.

When I come downstairs the pack meeting has just wrapped up. The elders pass me in the corridor with greetings and I smile, watching them file out.

Wren brightly comes up with a smile. “Hello, Luna.” She pauses. “Oh, the pack meeting is over? Traffic was a bit crazy… Shit, Emris is gonna be on my neck. He’s put a punishment for anyone that comes in late. I’m screwed, aren’t I?”

“I hope not cause Traffic was crazy for me too.” I say and Summer chuckles.

“Emris is not out of the office yet, so….” I look at Wren. “Wren, let’s talk. I made some observations last night that I think we should take a look at together.”

sts we’re walk down the hallway with elders going past. I see Laura arguing with a Deltas-

“I need hot water, and I need it now at once-

“I’m sorry. Miss Laura, The Deltas all have their hands on deck. It’s gonna take a while to get someone who’s gonna fix it right now.”

“So. I should shower? I should use old water or whatever is available?”

The Delta hesitates but Derisha who was speaking to an elders takes note of Laura.

“It’s fine, Laura. I don’t know why Emris put you in the wing in the first place. I’m sorry the Deltas are busy with what’s going on in the pack right now.”

Laura rolls her eyes. “It’s not just the water. It’s the heater too—”

“Get her stuff from the wing and bring her into the pack house. Get her a guest room so she can be comfortable.”

I shut my damn eyes in derision.

I should jump in and say no. That Laura stays in the wing but the smile on Derisha’s face tells me she’s doing this because Laura somehow saved Teddy’s life last night. So to her, this is nothing compared to Teddy coming back home safe and sound. And she’s not wrong about what Laura did. Which kinda makes it impossible to argue with.

“Thanks, Derisha.” Laura says and she sees me in the frame of things.

“Morning, Luna.” Derisha says.

“Morning.”

it to Derisha, squeezing my fist because moons, if I knew this would happen, I would have given Derisha the heads up!

“Demetra. I told Laura she can stay in the pack house. Is that okay?”

“Um.” I hold a plaster smile to my face. Then clench my teeth to say, “Yes.”i n the most even voice I can produce. Because if I say no, Laura will know immediately that I don’t trust her and if she knows I don’t trust her she’ll know I’ve said the same to Emris. I need to keep that card closer than that.

Just as I walk away from that, I see Emris come out of the office finally. He’s barking orders to poor Jupiter. I believe he doesn’t see at first until he grabs me by the waist and begins to French kiss me in front of the pack elders.
