Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? novel Chapter 1251

It was just before seven in the morning when Francis Johnson arrived at the hospital.

"Mr. Johnson," the caregiver greeted him with a slight bow. "You're here early. Ms. Bennett isn't awake yet."

"I see," Francis nodded curtly. "Is everything packed?"

"Yes," the caregiver confirmed. Sawyer had given her instructions two days ago to get Ms. Bennett's belongings in order.

"Good," Francis said, satisfied. "You can go in. Help her get ready when she wakes up."

"Of course." The caregiver agreed and headed inside.

Just as she reached the inner room, Sawyer appeared. "Mr. Francis, the paperwork is being processed. They need your signature."

"Alright." Francis nodded and rose to his feet, heading to the doctor's office.

By the time he returned, Caroline Bennett was already up. The caregiver was speaking to her gently. "Ms. Bennett, Mr. Francis was here... He'll be back in a moment. Why don't you have something to eat?"

Caroline ignored the food and asked, "Where's Gilbert?"

The caregiver faltered, unsure how to answer. Mr. Harrison hadn't visited in days and had even blocked her number.

"Gilbert isn't coming..." Caroline murmured, her expression lost as she sat in her wheelchair. "Why isn't he coming?"

A sound at the door made her look up. It was Francis.

"Francis!" Instantly, her eyes lit up and a smile spread across her face. "You're here!"

"Yes." Francis nodded, walking towards her. He glanced at the untouched meal on her tray. "Why aren't you eating? Do you not like it?"

"No, that's not it..." Caroline shook her head, her eyes welling up. "Where's Gilbert? He hasn't been here in days."

"Good..." Francis paused, his voice catching slightly as he nodded. He pulled a napkin from the dispenser and handed it to her. "Eat slowly."

...

When it was time to leave, Francis personally lifted Caroline from her wheelchair into the car. He instructed the driver, "Let's go."

"Yes, sir."

The car pulled away, heading for The Serenity Hills Sanatorium, a private psychiatric facility in Sunhaven's Southern District. It boasted independent courtyards and was staffed by professional medical teams, caregivers, and nutritionists.

Francis was speaking with the head physician. "Her condition hasn't improved. From now on... I'm entrusting her to your care."

"Mr. Johnson, you're too kind," the physician replied quickly. "This is our responsibility. Please rest assured, we will do our utmost."
