Whispers Turn to Whimpers: Could He Ever Change? novel Chapter 1278

"Ugh." He grimaced out of habit, quickly pulling a pill bottle from his pocket, shaking one out, and tossing it into his mouth.

So, could he even drink this?

A low, mirthless chuckle escaped his lips. Gilbert gripped the bottle, raised it high, and poured the contents over his head and face. The strong smell of alcohol filled the air as the liquid inevitably ran into his mouth and nose.

"Cough, cough, cough!" He choked violently.

Was it painful? Yes, it was excruciating. But was it enough? No, not even close. Not compared to the suffering Sherilyn had endured. Karma was a bitch, and his had finally arrived.

That night, Sherilyn slept soundly. The matter of the reinterment was settled, and with her recent therapy, her overall state had improved significantly.

The next morning, while getting ready, she received a call from Blake.

"Director Blake."

"Sherilyn," Blake's voice came through the phone, all business. "It's about the promotional tour for the new series. We're about to kick things off. Are you ready?"

"I am," Sherilyn replied with a smile. "Just tell me what to do."

"Great. I'll make the arrangements then."

"Sounds good."

That afternoon, she received the work schedule from Blake. According to the plan, the intensive promotional tour would begin the day after tomorrow. Sherilyn first arranged for Jenna's care; with Sophia and two other housekeepers—one for cooking and one for cleaning—things at home would run smoothly.

The first stop on the tour wasn't in Sunhaven but in Wessex County, the city where the show's primary sponsor was based. It made sense for the company to want to promote their product.

So, Sherilyn notified Naomi, Candida, and the rest of her team. They packed their bags and set off the following evening. Wessex County was in the south, near Ironforge City, a considerable distance from Sunhaven, so they flew.

They both settled into their seats. Nanson was the first to speak. "Are you heading to Wessex County for work?"

"Yes," Sherilyn confirmed. "Promoting a new series."

Nanson didn't watch television dramas, but he knew she had entered the entertainment industry and had made an effort to learn more about her work. "Is it the one from your pinned post on Twitter?"

"It is," Sherilyn nodded, surprised. "Nanson, you knew about that?"

"Yeah," Nanson looked slightly uncomfortable, using his sister as a cover. "I heard Joyce mention it. She even asked me to help share the post."

"Joyce is the most loyal friend!" Sherilyn laughed and took out her phone. "Does that mean you follow me? What's your Twitter handle, Nanson? I'll follow you back."

She was wearing her long hair down today. It was freshly washed, looking fluffy and soft, and carried the faint scent of white tea. It wasn't overpowering, just a subtle fragrance that drifted to Nanson's nose.
