Chapter 444 Counterfeit Currency

Darius slowly turned his chair to face the visitor, his voice calm and flat. “Hello, Yereah.”

Yereah wasn’t wearing his white lab coat today. Instead, he had on a silver-gray suit and rimless glasses, giving him a refined, scholarly look.

But in Darius’s eyes, he was still the same polished scoundrel as ever.

Holding a case, Yereah sighed lightly. “I didn’t really want to come, but your mother insisted I check on you.”

Darius raised an eyebrow, but he didn’t comment.

Carl stepped back respectfully with a file in hand, clearly waiting to report something important.

Yereah placed the case down and walked straight to Darius, starting to set up the equipment. “Has he come out at all this past year?”

Yereah had been overseas for six months. During that time, Darius never contacted him. The moment Yereah returned, Evelyn called, and he rushed over immediately.

Darius cooperated calmly. “Once. I forced him back in.”

Yereah nodded while adjusting the instruments. “After the last treatment, his growth completely stopped. As long as your will remains firm, and you don’t overuse his won’t be able to suppress you for now.”

He paused, then added carefully, “Honestly, you might want to listen to your father. But your mother probably couldn’t bear that.”

Darius’s gaze flicked over him, his tone turning colder. “That’s none of your concern.”

Yereah froze, realizing he’d crossed a line, and didn’t say another word. He focused entirely on the examination.

Soon after, several needles were inserted precisely into Darius’s brain. He didn’t react at all.

Yereah activated the equipment and began watching the data in real time.

“You just got back this morning?” Darius asked suddenly,

“Yeah. The plane barely landed before your mother called, like she already knew,” Yereah replied casually.

“For my family, tracking a flight isn’t hard,” Darius said casually.

Yereah shrugged. “I know. Honestly, your family could shut down an airline if you wanted.”

“But don’t you get a little too eager whenever my mom asks for something?” Darius smirked slightly. “She once wanted to take you in as her godson when you were young. My dad stopped it. Don’t tell me you’re still hung up on that?”

Yereah’s expression shifted before he laughed helplessly. “Come on. I’d love to be the Blackwoods’ godson. Guess I just wasn’t lucky enough.”

They laughed it off, letting the topic slide. But the hidden meaning behind Darius’s words made Yereah uneasy.

He’s always been this sharp. Has he already noticed what I’m hiding?

Yereah quickly composed himself and turned his attention to the data screen.

Darius turned to Carl. “Go ahead.”

Carl stepped forward and bowed slightly. “Mr. Blackwood, we’ve received reports from Astralis’s four major banks. A large batch of counterfeit currency has entered circulation. Some of it has already mixed into our group’s asset system, and the amount is far higher than in other regions. They’re requesting our help with a full investigation.”

Even Yereah froze when he heard that.

Skybound Group was the business giant of the eastern werewolves and the largest commercial force in the Astralis Empire. If fake money spread inside the group, it would be a massive blow to both the empire’s economy and the group’s reputation.

It was clearly a deliberate attack.

Darius frowned. “This is Chaules-wide currency, right?”

Carl nodded. “Yes. I’ve already sent people to trace it. The fact that even the banks can’t tell the difference means whoever did this has extremely advanced abilities. And the target is clearly Skybound Group.”

Darius took the file and skimmed through it, his frown deepening.

With current minting technology, this level of precision shouldn’t be possible.

That led him to suspect a special ability-one capable of directly producing perfect currency copies.

Even so, replicas always carried minute flaws, detectable only through specific methods.

As the CEO of Skybound Group, Darius had noticed this counterfeit ring long ago. They weren’t just making fake money-they were also tied to large-scale theft. Multiple empires across Chaules had issued warrants for them, yet they remained at large thanks to their cunning and formidable armed strength.

What he hadn’t expected was for them to target his territory.

“How’s the counterfeit flow in other regions?”

“Mainly the east and Astralis. The rest seem tightly controlled, with very little fake currency in circulation,” Carl replied. After following Darius for years, he was used to digging deep into every detail. That was his role as Darius’s personal Beta.

Darius tapped his thigh rhythmically. “What’s the Hawthornes’ recent move?”

“They’ve been causing trouble nonstop, intentionally suppressing our eastern branches. With the counterfeit issue creating small asset swings, they’re using the chaos to push harder,” Carl said, irritation slipping into his voice.

In his view, the Blackwoods’ wealth was beyond imagination. What outsiders saw was just the surface. Even with minor losses, they were still among the richest families on the continent. The Hawthornes trying to take them down was basically suicide.

Darius’s eyes turned cold. “Keep a close watch on Elliott. Prioritize checking whether he’s linked to the counterfeit ring.”

Carl snapped to attention. “Yes, sir!”

Though Yereah hadn’t paid much attention to those affairs, he immediately understood Darius suspected the Hawthornes were either working with the counterfeiters or directly involved.

Darius fell into thought. It wouldn’t be long before Blue Star Military Academy started assigning missions.

“Carl, draft formal letters under my name to the Lycan Kings of all major empires in Chaules.”

“Yes, Mr. Blackwood,” Carl replied with a respectful nod.

As Carl finished his report, Yereah also removed the monitoring equipment from Darius’s head.

“All set. You’re stable,” Yercah said while packing up. “Same as before. Unless your will wavers, or you actively tap into his power, he’ll stay asleep.”
