I stopped abruptly.

I turned, meeting Lucian’s gaze as he held Willow, my eyes cold. A chilling smile played on my lips. “Lucian, since Aurora was born, you haven’t cared for her a single day. How dare you accuse me?”

Lucian was speechless.

“Seren, how could you say that? Lucian is not like you, staying at home. He’s busy with his work. He has a lot of affairs to deal with and a whole pack to protect. How could you accuse him of not caring about Aurora? Instead of blaming him, you should understand him and be grateful to him.”

“And, for someone who loves children as much as Lucian, why would he neglect Aurora? Why don’t you reflect on yourself?”

Ayla tried to make herself look considerate. She said this to please Lucian.

At the same time, she was implying that ‘I’ was caring not enough about Aurora, so that Lucian might despise me.

My eyes sharpened, turning to Ayla. I warned, “Ayla, you’re in no position to talk to me like that.”

Ayla’s eyes instantly widened. She leaned towards Lucian.

Looking at me with a face full of feigned grievances, she said, “Seren, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to interrupt. I just think you should put yourself in Lucian’s shoes and accuse him less like that!”

‘Ayla, you’re pathetic! Stop pretending you care about me.” I felt utterly disgusting.

‘Seren!” When he heard the word “pathetic,” Lucian’s handsome, noble face froze.

He looked at me with a cold, harsh gaze.

‘Lucian, it’s okay. Don’t get angry with Seren because of me.” Ayla tugged at Lucian’s sleeve, feigning she was a forgiving woman.

This day was crucial. I didn’t want to waste a second of my time arguing with them, so I turned and walked inside. If Lucian hadn’t mentioned Aurora, I wouldn’t have a single word with them at all.
