Chapter 31 Kick Jane Out
She thought tonight’s dinner would be a romantic date for just her and Julian. She never expected him to bring his parents along.
Then running into Chloe and Ethan—the whole vibe had completely shifted!
She gritted her teeth, and her gaze suddenly fell on the white handbag sitting beside Chloe.
That bag-she’d seen it before!
Earlier at the bridal boutique, where Ethan was sitting, that exact purse had been placed right next to him.
Chloe was lying. She had been at the bridal shop too!
This discovery made Jane’s eyes light up. Her gaze swept back and forth between Ethan and Chloe’s faces, and the more she looked, the more suspicious it seemed.
“What’s wrong, Jane? You feeling okay?”
Lauren, sitting beside her, was the first to notice her strange behavior.
“N§, I just remembered something. I ran into Mr. Price at th8:35

to the bridal shop with him?”
Jane asked with fake curiosity.
The room went silent. The question hung in the air.
Even if Chloe was trying to interview him, why would she follow him to a bridal shop? And no one had heard anything about Ethan getting married. A man like that wouldn’t let a reporter in on something so private-he was far too careful for that.
Cold sweat broke out across Chloe’s back. She really hadn’t noticed the bag.
“Chloe?”
When Julian saw her silence, he called out to her.
Chloe forced a smile. “Yeah?”
“You haven’t answered Jane’s question.”
Julian sensed something was off.
Just as Chloe was about to explain, two crisp knocks sounded at the door, and it swung open.
Sonia stood in the doorway, smiling as she teased her cousin.

Chloe blinked. Sonia was the one who’d gone dress shopping with Ethan?
Julian still felt something wasn’t quite right, but when Sonia walked in carrying the same bag as Chloe, his suspicions faded.
“You don’t mind if I join you, do you?”
There was an empty seat beside Chloe, and Sonia sat down casually, addressing the group.
Having Sonia dine with them was exactly what they wanted- how could they possibly refuse?
“Please, join us!”
Michael was the first to respond, passing her the menu. “See if there’s anything you’d like to order.”`
“Well, if you insist.”
Sonia added three dishes, all the most expensive ones. While this money was pocket change to the Summers family, she figured every penny she could squeeze from them was worth it- payback for Chloe.
Watching Sonia’s perfectly timed arrival, Jane’s brows furrowed. This was too convenient-she’d barely questioned Chloe before Sonia appeared, like she’d come specifically to bail

her out.
She couldn’t help herself. “Sonia, were you at the bridal boutique earlier too? When I went upstairs, I didn’t seem to—”
“Jane!”
Michael cut off her words with a warning look.
Jane felt stifled, instinctively looking toward Julian, but his expression mirrored Michael’s exactly. Reminding her: they couldn’t afford to offend the Price family!
The meal went smoothly. Chloe didn’t know how Jane’s appetite was, but her own was excellent—she ate nearly half the fish herself. She also kept an eye on Ethan, whose health truly seemed poor. He barely touched his food and occasionally coughed softly.
Dinner ended quickly. Ethan and Sonia left first, with the Summers seeing them off, watching until Ethan’s car disappeared before the smile gradually faded from Michael’s face.
Ethan was impossible to read. He’d just spent over ten thousand dollars on dinner without even getting the guy’s phone number.
But if they could get in with the Price family, it would be huge for Summers Group.

With this thought, Michael turned to look at Chloe standing on
the steps.
“Chloe, let’s forget about what happened before. You and Julian are married, after all. It’s not right for you to live elsewhere. Come home with us tonight.”
He then nudged Lauren.
Lauren, left with no choice, smiled at Chloe. “Come back home. If people find out you and Julian are living separately, they’ll think we’re mistreating you.”
Julian also wrapped his arm around Chloe’s shoulder. “Come on. I can’t sleep without you. Come back, okay?”
Chloe suppressed her nausea while noting Jane’s murderous glare.
“What about her? If she’s staying at the house, then I don’t want to. Your mom treats her so well, it makes me uncomfortable.”
