You Cheated I Moved On novel Chapter 32

Chapter 32 Steal the Credit

Jane’s stomach churned with bitterness. Even though Chloe had sent her that recording yesterday, and she knew Julian wanted to keep using Chloe because of the shares. But she hadn’t expected him to dismiss her so coldly, just telling her to leave without a second thought.

Being Mrs. Summers was absolutely humiliating!

But no matter how pissed off she was, Jane didn’t dare cross Julian. She could only nod. “Fine, I’ll head back to my parents’ today. Chloe, please don’t let me mess things up between you. I’d feel terrible.”

“I’ll have the driver take you home.”

Julian wanted her gone before anything else went wrong, so he had the driver escort her out immediately.

Then he took Chloe’s hand. “Ready to head home?”

Chloe pulled her hand free. “I’m not coming back tonight. All my stuff is at the apartment, and I’ve got work to handle these next few days. I just got my equipment set up-moving everything back and forth would be a total pain.”

She had zero desire to return to that toxic nightmare known as the Summers family home.

Julian tried to change her mind.

But Lauren couldn’t have been happier. She quickly grabbed Julian’s arm. “If Chloe wants to stay out, let her. Our place is way too far from her office anyway-totally inconvenient.”

Before Julian could say another word, Lauren pushed him into the car and told the driver to go.

Julian watched Chloe disappear from view, then irritably shoved Lauren’s hand away. “Mom, did you forget what Grandfather said? We need to get Chloe pregnant ASAP. How’s that supposed to happen if she’s not even living with me?”

“What, you actually want Chloe to have the Summers heir? What about Jane then? I won’t allow it!”

She would never let some nobody from a small town bear the Summers family’s child.

If anyone was going to have a baby, it should be Jane!

“Your grandfather is just making empty threats. You should focus on Jane. If she gets pregnant with your child, your grandfather will definitely come around.”

Michael chimed in, “Chloe has a good relationship with the Price now. We can’t burn that bridge.”

Lauren was still annoyed, she kept quiet.

But she would never allow Chloe to give birth to her grandchild. Not happening.

Julian, however, was thinking about something else entirely.

“Ethan Price is getting married? Who’s the lucky heiress? I haven’t heard anything.”

You’d think if someone was marrying into the Price family, everyone would know about it by now. That’s the kind of match every wealthy family dreams of—it would be all over the news.

Michael found it strange too, but if the Price family wanted to keep something under wraps, there wasn’t much they could do to find out.

Monday morning, Chloe went to work. Ethan’s interview article was finalized and ready for publication.

Jasper called her into his office.

“Chloe, we need to talk.”

Jasper seemed uncomfortable, but remembering the order he’d

received, he forced an awkward smile.

“You know how Jane tagged along when you interviewed Ethan? Well, Jane just got back from overseas and needs a high-profile piece to establish herself here. Management has decided that this Ethan Price interview should run under Jane’s byline.”

So that’s why she’d had a bad feeling all day. There was a trap waiting for her after all.

Chloe’s expression turned ice cold. “I handled every aspect of this interview-the research, the questions, the actual conversation. Now you want to publish it under Jane’s name? How is that even remotely fair?”

“Come on, what’s the big deal? Everyone in the industry knows your name. It’s just one interview. You and Jane are family, right? Sharing credit shouldn’t hurt.”

Seeing Chloe’s stubborn attitude, Jasper got annoyed too.

But before she could respond, Jasper made his final call. “This is happening. Don’t be petty about it. You’ve been with our magazine for years-if you can snag the Gold Reporter award this year, your salary will definitely double. Otherwise—”

Chloe bit her lip, slipping her hand into her pocket. After a moment, her expression softened considerably.

“I just think this sucks. I did tons of research to prepare those questions. When you wanted to replace me with Jane for the 8:35
