Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 1022

Samatha was visiting her aunt's house for the new year. She returned after getting a thick red packet filled with money. However, she was immediately greeted by Cara who was trembling uncontrollably while standing in front of the target, looking incredibly pale when she entered.

"Cara? What are you doing here?"

Both Cara and Samatha were the same age and in the same grade as each other in North City Highschool.

It seemed Cara was known to be a horrible person with an awful attitude that they had often butt heads with each other.

Shayne poured a glass of red wine and gently gave the glass a swirl before taking a sip. He simply said, "They happen to be grandpa's guests so you should behave."

Samatha raised her prideful-looking face, tossed her bag that was stuffed full of money aside, and said, "You've terrified the guest to such an extent."

She noticed the apple on the ground, the dart that was on the bullseyes, and Cara's terrified reaction. She could more or less deduce that Shayne had used her as his human target.

Cara bit her lips and gulped before asking, "You don't like me, do you, Shayne?"

Shayne replied, "Why are you asking the obvious?"

Cara stared at him with a depressingly pitiful look as she grabbed the tail ends of her skirt and nervously said, "But I've never done anything to offend you before, right? What have I ever done to you to make you not like me?"

Shayne took a glance at her and said, "You've never done anything wrong. I just happened to not like you, that's all. You don't have to keep trying to get me to like you either."

Cara bit her lips till they were pale while her rage boiled inside her. However, she did not dare to vent her anger out.

She was at the Jinn family household and it seemed that in comparison to Samatha, she was a complete fraud to her princess-like status.

Samatha counted the money she received and decided to show it off to Shayne as she said, "Look, I told you to come along with me. Now look at how much money you've missed out on!"

Shayne rolled his eyes at her as he said, "Sellout."

Samatha kept her money away and teased, "Oh please, you're the cheap one! You only give me three thousand bucks for my monthly allowance!"

"You'd be spoiled rotten if I gave you more. I haven't even punished you for what happened last time. If I find out about you working as a hostess at a bar again, I'll break your legs. Believe me, I'll make you work as a hostess in a wheelchair."

Samatha's face twitched.

'This old coot is too barbaric and unreasonable! Who wants to be a hostess anyway. I was only at the bar to look for Brother Rodney. However, it turns out that Rodney was being attracted by a hot-looking woman. Ugh, how frustrating!'

Rodney even told her that he would treat her as his own sister.

Samatha stared at her A-sized twin peaks and started frowning. She wondered if her breasts were too small.

However, she was still young so they might grow bigger in the future.

How could he ignore her like that?

It seemed she had never thought of Rodney as her own brother.

He kept telling her that she was still too young but she would turn seventeen after the new year. Was she still too young?

Why would the man always look at her as if he was looking at a child?

Would a child secretly kiss their brother's lips?

Samatha climbed up onto her bed and comforted herself, 'Forget it, I can take things slow. I’ll get the guy no matter what.'

All she had to do was to approach this one step at a time. She had to mingle with her brother's group more often and with that, she would no doubt have an opportunity to get closer to Rodney.

After both Lina and Cara had left the Jinn family household, Shayne was summoned into the study by Charles.

"Is there anything you want from me?"

Charles took a glance at him and noticed the disdainful aura that emanated from every inch of Shayne's body. He hit Shayne's leg with his walking stick and spoke with a frown, "I have something to discuss with you. Can you not always behave like you don't care about anything and act so irresponsibly all the time?"

"As long as I'm not irresponsible in making money then all is fine, I guess."

It seemed Charles was tongue-tied from a single remark made by Shayne.

Charles sighed and spoke with a serious look, "You'll turn twenty-six after the new year and you're not young anymore. Are you really not interested in any of the women I’ve arranged to meet with you before this?"

"Grandpa, I'm doing fine on my own and getting married isn't really good for me. Do I really have to burn down an entire forest for a single tree?"

Charles glared at his grandson and exclaimed, "How irresponsible! You happen to be the grandson of our Jinn family and your father is no longer here anymore. I have to be the one to worry about your marriage, Shayne, look. If your father was still here, I wouldn't even be bothered to rush you about marriage. Besides, ensuring our bloodline continues is your responsibility. Reproducing an heir to carry on the family name isn't the only reason for marriage. I refuse to believe that you won't feel lonely being alone all the time."

Shayne burst out laughing. His chest was trembling from laughing so hard. His laughter sounded slightly sinister as he said, "Grandpa, why don't you ask if it feels lonely at all?"

Shayne patted his groin...while his movements looked extremely inappropriate.

"Shayne, you shameless child!"

When Charles flung his walking stick at Shayne, he dodged it swiftly while laughing.

"Grandpa, I feel like marriage is nothing more than a shackle. Look, perhaps someday I might get married but definitely not now."

Charles spoke in a deep voice while glaring at him, "What do you think about the Jacob family’s daughter?"

"No way."
