Samantha was incredibly exhausted in the middle of the night as she kept yawning.
Yanny said, "Just head on home, Samantha, I'll take care of it from here."
Samantha was absolutely delighted to hear that as she said, "Alright, I'll head back home then."
Only Yanny and Shayne remained in the room soon after.
Yanny was sitting beside the bed while she silently watched over Shayne for a brief moment. However, just as she was about to get up and pour herself a glass of water, the man in bed immediately grabbed her arm when he felt her movements.
"Where are you going?"
He could not believe that right after she told Samantha that she would be watching over him, she would just leave.
Shayne was staring at her with an intensely menacing gaze.
Yanny frowned and said, "I'm just pouring myself a glass of water."
Shayne was speechless.
Shayne's throat twitched a little before releasing her arm without saying a word.
Yanny turned around to pour a glass of water before asking him, "Do you want a drink?"
Shayne was in a very bad mood as he exclaimed in a harsh tone, "Yes!"
Yanny went ahead to pour a glass of water and it seemed that her obedient and submissive attitude only agitated Shayne further.
Shayne slapped the glass of water away and it accidentally caused the hot water in the glass to spill over Yanny's hand.
It did not hurt but it made Yanny frown.
Shayne felt a little guilty as he stared at the back of her burnt hand but the little sense of guilt slowly faded away when he thought about Samuel.
"What exactly do you even want, Shayne? If I remember correctly, we officially broke up with each other two hours ago."
'An official break up?'
Shayne previously had Jake investigate Samuel before and it turned out that Samuel had already returned home.
Therefore, was Yanny thinking about eloping with the man after breaking up with him back then?
'Who does she think she is to think of me as a rebound for her?'
'This makes no sense at all.'
Shayne was staring at her with a sinisterly cold glare as he cracked a grin and said, "It's completely fine if you want to break up with me but just let me have as much fun with you as I want for a week."
He was extremely cold and it seemed he had completely trampled over Yanny's dignity.
Yanny's heart thumped and she felt as if she had been splashed by a bucket of cold water. She felt extremely awful in that instant.
It seemed that whatever she did was beyond worthless to him and it was as if he could trample all over her as much as he wanted.
Yanny held back the sudden wave of heartache as she took a deep breath and placed both hands into her jacket's pockets for a really long time. They were trembling uncontrollably.
However, she remained smiling as she said, "So, let me ask you this, Shayne, what if I refuse?"
Shayne stared at her with a casual look. His carefree expression was enough to make anyone want to rip his face off as he said, "You know fully well that hindering your career is as easy as killing an ant to me. You are free to refuse me and I won't force you to do as I say since I never enjoy being with someone who was forced to do anything they were reluctant to do."
Yanny cracked a hollow smile while staring silently at Shayne for a really long time.
She clenched her fists so tightly in her pocket that her fingertips turned pale.
In the end however, she simply said, "Alright, I understand. One week, so be it. I hope you'll honor your end of the bargain, Shayne, that we're officially done and have absolutely nothing to do with each other again after a week."
Shayne's expression looked extremely bitter as the man simply muttered in a disdainful tone, "Leave."
Yanny chuckled in a calm demeanor as she thought to herself, 'Alright, I'll leave.'
Yanny turned around and strode out of the door before slamming the door shut forcefully.
She stood on the same spot after the door was shut while her entire body trembled and she teared up.
Shayne thought to himself, 'All I want from her is for her to apologize to me. Was it really that difficult for her to apologize and flirt with me?
'At the end of the day, all she actually wanted was to leave and it didn't even bother her if she was humiliated as a result of it.'
It seemed that the burns on his back felt even more painful to him and the pain was so sharp that it felt as if it would tear his chest open.
It was not as if he was never hurt before but nothing was ever as bad as this. The pain he felt was radiating through every inch of his body at the moment.
…
Shayne spent six days out of the week in the hospital but he never called Yanny.
Yanny thought he had forgotten about it.
