Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 1131

Yanny was rather surprised when she received Samuel’s call.

“Little Yanny, I just got off the plane and I’m now in North City. I’d like to… meet up with you. No matter what your decision is, I just want closure. Even if you finally decide not to change, I’ll wish you all the best. However, before that, please give me a clear answer. I refuse to believe that over the years, you really… completely forgot about me.”

It was said that the love of a teenager would stay with them for life. Samuel naturally refused to believe that Yanny had lost all feelings for him.

He was inclined to believe that it was just Yanny’s petty revenge against him, even if outsiders would see that as a type of narcissism.

Samuel was as stubborn as one could be.

Yanny chuckled, then said, “You’re still as stubborn and self centered as before.”

“You can just take it as a meal, to catch up. Meeting up with me is not going to kill you. Could it be that you’re afraid that meeting me would affect your will to marry Shayne?”

Yanny replied politely, “Samuel, you always know how to trigger me. Send me the address.”

Yanny did not find it to be taboo because she had other thoughts about Samuel. Not only would she meet him, but she would also give him her wedding invitation.

They met at a specialty restaurant.

Samuel ordered dishes that Yanny liked.

Yanny asked calmly, “Why did you come back all of a sudden? Aren’t you busy with work in England?”

Samuel cut right to the chase, saying, “I’m busy, but after finding out that you’re getting married, I immediately came back. I wanted to make things clear.”

Yanny was all ears. She was not in a hurry at all. She had always admired Samuel. Even if she stopped loving him, she was still willing to be his friend, but only as a friend that one occasionally kept in touch with.

However, if Samuel still harbored feelings for her, she would cut him off completely. The reason Yanny was willing to keep in touch with him was because she knew that Samuel was a rational person that would not cross boundaries.

Yanny took out an invitation from her bag and passed it to Samuel. “This is my wedding invitation. At first I was quite reluctant to deliver this news to you. Sending a wedding invitation to an ex seems quite rude, but I accidentally sent that email as bulk mail. Hence, I’m sorry if that caused any misunderstandings. However, I’m not doing anything wrong. Since you already know of this, regardless of your attendance, I will still invite you to attend my wedding.”

She explained it clearly and sincerely, leaving him no room for his thoughts.

Samuel received the invitation and lowered his head to study it carefully. He then looked up and stared at her, asking, “Yanny, I want to know, at what point did you truly forget about me?”

Yanny thought about it for a moment, feeling unsure, but confidently said, “When you came back and we reunited, I knew that I had moved on. I was just holding a grudge as I was dumped without a word. However, after you appeared, I realized that I no longer loved you. I was only pitying myself for being dumped without any explanation back then. Samuel, you can’t deny that the way you left was very special. It was enough to make you unforgettable to anyone.”

Samuel frowned, slightly perplexed. “Was it because I left without saying goodbye?”

“You can be abusive, or mean. However, you chose the method that was most difficult for me to come to terms with by keeping things lukewarm, especially the way you left me. Direct rejection would be much better than ghosting. You successfully made me care about you for several years. If you never appeared and remained unreachable, I might not be able to love another person in this lifetime, because I won’t be able to move past that trauma and be forever stuck on being ghosted. I would be trapped by the trauma you caused.”

Yanny’s lips curled upward and she bluntly said, “If you really want closure, it’s your reappearance that helped me understand that I had fallen in love with Shayne. I have long moved past you. I was only living in self pity for being dumped by you.”

Samuel burst into laughter, laughing helplessly. “You’re telling me that I’m the one that orchestrated everything in the background and ended up murdering myself? It’s me that made you go to Shayne?”

“Yes.”

Samuel did not know what to feel. He was overwhelmed with a slew of emotions. “Little Yanny, this is the worst revenge and punishment you exacted upon me. Back then, I made you brood over me for several years. However, now, you successfully made me regret for life.”

“That might not be the case. Life is long. Who knows if you might meet someone in a few years time? Take me for example, meeting such a stunning person like you in my teens. However, later on, I managed to meet someone that I found even more stunning and was willing to be tied down by a marriage certificate. Perhaps that’s how fate is. It’s beyond logical reasoning.”

Samuel got up. His eyes had a desolate look, yet he smiled and said, “I bid you farewell and wish you happiness. As for the wedding, I won’t be attending it. To see you become someone else’s bride with my own eyes is something I can’t endure.”

When Samuel left, he was calm, and rational, without a shred of nervousness or pity.

Yanny called out to him, “Samuel.”

Yanny said, “If you meet someone you like again, you mustn’t let her wait for you endlessly. Her love will shift to someone else. People like to be clingy, and would unknowingly invest emotionally to people or matters that cling to them. With your lack of attachment, perhaps it might make it unforgettable for others, but it would be impossible to love in the end. It’s too aloof and would instill fear in others.”

Samuel did not continue the conversation but instead smiled faintly.

He wanted to say something, but he did not manage to get it past his throat.

Yanny once said that she loved his aloofness the most. However, that aloofness turned into the deadly weapon that killed that relationship.
