Shayne’s phone rang. The caller ID showed that it was Lina.
Shayne took a look at Yanny, then held the phone and stood up. He went to the corridor outside the bedroom of that small building and answered the call.
Shayne was frowning slightly. Faced with Lina, who was crying on the other end of the call, he was obviously growing impatient. “I’ll bring Yanny over to donate blood to Cara.”
Thud.
The big and heavy wedding planner fell to the floor. A pitiful wail followed.
Shaye’s frown deepened. He turned around with his phone in hand. Yanny was standing behind the glass door. The tears welled up uncontrollably in her eyes. The way she looked at him was filled with insecurity, doubt, confusion, shock, hatred…
Shayne was not surprised.
He calmly looked over at the wedding planner that Yanny dropped to the ground. Keeping his gaze locked on her, he said in a casual tone, “Cara was in an accident. She’s Rh negative and urgently needs your blood to save her. After you’ve donated blood to her, we’ll get married. In the future, there’ll be no more Cara and the Jacob family. Meanwhile, your incident with Samuel will be forgotten as well. That way, we would be even.”
Yanny stared at him with her reddened eyes. Her mouth opened, but the words got caught in her throat. No words came forth.
The condition for his forgiveness was for her to save Cara?
Cara was Lina’s daughter and Lina was the one that indirectly caused her mother’s death.
No matter how much she wanted to be with Shayne, it was not enough to make her save Lina’s daughter, even if it was just to donate her blood.
She would rather donate her blood to save someone unrelated than to willingly save Cara.
If it was anyone else, she would willingly save them.
However, Shayne’s calmness and straightforwardness told her that he had made up his mind, and it would never change.
Yanny’s body trembled. She clenched her fists, then turned around to quickly run down the stairs.
Tap, tap, tap.
She descended the stairs in a flurry.
Shayne stood in his spot, not in a hurry to give chase. He walked up to the wedding planner, bent over and picked it up.
He saw that there was a page for beach weddings in the planner.
He remembered that back on Grape Island in Massachusetts, Yanny mentioned that she would like to have her wedding on the beach in the future.
Back there and then, during that short period of time, it was the happiest and most worry free place that they had been to.
It was also the location where she completely gave her heart to him.
Shayne stared at the page on beach weddings. His gaze seemed cold and determined.
He would have the wedding with Yanny on the golden beach of Grape Island as promised. He would not be late.
Shayne threw that book aside in the building. He strode out of the building while calling Henry.
Yanny was in Shayne’s garage. She started up a white Porsche and drove away in a hurry to escape.
The rain poured. The heavy rain of early spring buffeted against the car’s windscreen. They were also like sharp blades that pierced through Yanny’s heart.
On the overpass where the rain poured, Yanny stepped on the gas like a madwoman.
Behind her white Porsche, several sports cars of various colors were on her tail.
Yanny’s fingers on the steering wheel were trembling…
