Verian’s eyes trembled. Her gaze was fixed on the painting that was titled ‘A Family of Three’.

“Jelly Bean, do you feel lonely?”

The little munchkin cupped her face as her big black eyes sparkled. She nodded her head seriously and said miserably, “Yes! Jelly Bean doesn’t have any friends and mummy doesn’t visit me because she’s on Mars! Cherry’s mummy does beautiful braids for her every day and I want a mummy to help me braid my hair too!”

Verian could not help but smile. She lifted her hands to caress the little munchkin’s mushroom head, “Jelly Bean has short hair, and you can’t do braids with short hair.”

Little Jelly Bean pouted. Feeling wronged, she said, “Daddy cuts my hair short because nobody knows how to braid my hair. Daddy said he doesn’t know how to braid hair. Daddy is stupid.”

Verian laughed out loud. An image of Heaton frowning as he grabbed his daughter’s hair clumsily but couldn’t braid her hair no matter how much he tried, appeared in her mind. She heard how strict Heaton was in the business industry. It was hard to imagine that Heaton had the helpless side to him.

“Then you shouldn’t cut your hair this time. Teacher can help you braid your hair.”

The little munchkin frowned and asked thoughtfully, “Hmm… beautiful braids like the ones Cherry has?”

“Of course, you’re so cute and you will look very pretty in braids.”

Suddenly, the little munchkin’s fair and tender hands grabbed Verian’s. “Monty, my mummy is on Mars and she can’t come back. Can you be my mummy for now?”

Verian was stunned. “Hmm?”

The little munchkin sighed and sat on the staircase. She said miserably, “Daddy will find another lady to become my mummy if Monty doesn’t want to be my mummy. However, those ladies will be fierce to me. Moreover, they won’t give me food and they will beat me up. Monty, will you come and visit me if I’m injured and admitted to the hospital?”

Little Jelly Bean’s pure dewy eyes were staring up at Verian. It sparked a tinge of sympathy in Verian’s heart as she looked at Jelly Bean’s pitiful look.

‘Did Heaton’s partner abuse Little Jelly Bean?

‘Of course, they would not do that in front of Heaton, but what if they were doing it behind his back? Just as what the little munchkin said, they would be fierce to her, never provide her food, and even beat her up?’

Verian’s maternal instinct overflowed. She asked pitifully, “Does daddy bring ladies back home frequently?”

Little Jelly Bean did not hesitate to set Heaton up just to make Verian her mother. She crossed her tiny arms and said in a righteous tone, “Hmph! Daddy always ignores me when he brings ladies back home! He always asked me to play alone!”

Verian frowned and a tinge of anger grew in her heart. She thought that Heaton doted and cared for his daughter a lot as he looked like a decent guy. It turned out that his daughter was nothing when it came to women.

“Do you really want me to be your mummy?

“Yes! This is because I know that Monty won’t bully me!”

She wanted to protect Little Jelly Bean too, but… she was not the decision maker in this matter. “You have to ask for your dad’s opinion in this matter. It’s not up to me. However, even if I can’t be your mummy, I will tell your daddy to spend more time with you.”

The little munchkin blinked her large eyes and cleverly said, “Monty, I knew you will agree on this!”

Monty looked at the little munchkin dotingly and grabbed her tiny hand, “Alright, let’s go to class now.”
