On the very first day Verian came to work at the Yash Company, Yanni arranged his personal assistant to arrange some work for her, surprising the entire design department.
When Verian was following his personal assistant to get her work induction done, the entire design department staff whispered about it.
“Say, just what kind of backing does someone like Verian Mont have to have Yanni Quain’s personal assistant to personally induct her to work.”
“Yeah, but she doesn’t seem to be a reputable designer.”
“Could she be our President Quain’s secret affair?”
“But haven’t you guys said that you’ve seen the daughter of the Yellen family, Guin Yellen, would often come to our company to look for President Quain? The Yellen family happens to be a major entrepreneur in North City. President Quain is pretty compatible with Miss Guin Yellen. This one, however, truly can’t be labeled.”
“Who knows, maybe President Quain was only with the daughter of the Yellen family solely for a business relationship. That Verian Mont might be a vixen President Quain keeps out there.”
“In the world of the wealthy, they don’t lack mistresses and vixens.”
…
Verian followed Assistant Dan to complete her work induction process. After that, her cell phone rang and the caller ID showed it was Guin.
She somehow felt guilty since she had not thought about how she was going to tell Guin about this.
She picked up the call after hesitating for a brief moment. Guin bluntly asked, “Verian, are you working in Yanni’s company?”
Verian was stunned since she wondered how the news could have gotten to her so quickly. Could it have been Yanni?
“Did President Quain tell you?”
Guin ignored that question. “You don’t need to care about who told me, but since… Could you not work at the Yash Company?”
She was usually a dunce but since her uncle had reminded her today, she recalled the few times Yanni and her went on a date were the times Yanni had swiftly as Verian was also with her. Moreover, when they ran into Verian at the cinema, Yanni had made the first move to invite Verian to join them.
Yanni would not have fallen in love with Verian now, right?
When Guin thought about this, she felt like a complete mess since if that was true, it would be too majorly insane for her. Her best friend along with her boyfriend…
Guin would never allow such things to happen!
Verian frowned. “Why? Guinnie, I know it’s my fault for not telling you about this beforehand but the Yash Company truly suits me. Oh, that’s right, I was originally working as an illustrator but I felt like an illustrator is way too common out there. I thought about it and I will start learning from the foundation of a jewelry designer…”
Before she could finish, Guin said, “There are so many art companies in North City, why must you choose the Yash Company anyway?”
Verian was stunned for a moment but somehow understood why Guin had made such a request. “Guinnie, are you afraid...that Yanni Quain and I would…?”
“Even if you wouldn’t do anything to Yanni, you as my uncle’s wife should avoid this initially. Everyone in North City knows my uncle has a strained relationship with Yanni. You’re his wife so why don’t you stay to work in the Fudd Group?”
Verian’s watery eyes dimmed. “How did you know about this?”
The tone of Guin’s voice was starting to grow aggressive. “Verian, I think of you as my best friend and you never tell me anything. Why did you keep your marriage with my uncle from me for so long?”
“Guinnie, things weren’t as you’d imagine. This is really complicated and I’ve been wanting to explain it to you…”
“Verian, if you truly are my best friend, please don’t work in Yash Company. Not only would I be unhappy if you work in Yash Company, even my uncle would be unhappy with you working with his competitor.”
The instant Guin finished that statement, she hung up the call.
She clutched onto her phone next to her ear without taking it down as she was stunned for a good long while.
When Dan handed her the employee’s tag, he said, “Miss Mont, what’s wrong?”
Verian accepted the employee’s tag and smiled. “Nothing.”
