The next day, in the afternoon, Verian Mont’s phone rang when she was about to get off work. Incoming call: Heaton Fudd.

Though slightly surprised, she did not immediately answer.

Since they had not been in touch for a whole month, Heaton would not contact her for no good reason. Worrying that something might have happened to Little Jelly Bean, she answered the call.

The man started speaking on the other end as soon as she picked up, “I have a business meeting after work today. Go fetch Little Jelly Bean and send her back to the Fudd’s.”

Heaton’s voice was cold as usual, portraying no emotions, just like a superior giving instruction.

Verian suddenly felt a little lost but she coldly replied, “Got it. I will.”

Before she could hang up, Heaton already did.

Looking at the display screen turn dark, she frowned. He was probably busy with Sunny Shea and the child in her womb, hence he did not think about her at all.

Verian had no mood to keep pondering on things like that. She packed up and left for Little Jelly Bean.

At the entrance of the kindergarten, Little Jelly Bean ran out with her backpack, dashing toward Verian Mont when she saw her. She hugged Verian tightly. “Monty! I miss you so much!”

Verian kissed the little one on the forehead and said, “Mom… I miss you very much too.” She almost said “Mommy”.

It was better not to tell her so that Little Jelly Bean could still live without her.

Verian smiled lightly while holding the child’s hand. “Your father went for a business meeting, so he asked me to fetch you. Let’s go back to the Fudd’s for now, OK?”

“Sure! I want to play with you before we go home!”

“Then let’s have dinner before we go back?”

“Yes!”

Verian smiled and asked, “KFC?”

The child pouted and said, “I want to eat fries, mashed potatoes, chicken nuggets, and drink Coke!”

Seeing her hungry look, she guessed that the child had never been back to KFC since she brought her there for the first time. The Fudd family is rich and powerful thus they do not highly regard fast food. Naturally, they would not want Little Jelly Bean to eat such junk food.

However, Verian felt that it was alright to eat there occasionally. By bringing Little Jelly Bean to KFC, Verian recalled fond moments during her childhood when Grayson Mont used to take her there.

In KFC, Verian ordered a variety of dishes that Little Jelly Bean loved to eat. While Little Jelly Bean was eating her fries, Verian was worried that she would not be able to see her again for a long time, so she took out her phone and snapped a few videos and pictures of her.

Little Jelly Bean frowned and asked her, “What are you doing, Monty?”

“I’m taking pictures of you so that I can see you anytime when I miss you.”

Little Jelly Bean’s shoulders collapsed when she heard that, sighing, “Monty, why can’t you be together with my Daddy? Daddy is going to look for a stepmom for me. What if the stepmom treats me badly in the future?”

The child supported her own little chin with her hands, looking really worried.

Verian was surprised, “Your Daddy is looking for a stepmom for you?”

Little Jelly Bean nodded and complained, “The reason Daddy couldn’t come to drive me home today was that he’s gone for a matchmaking session with a beautiful auntie!”

Verian’s face turned dark.
