Heaton stared at Verian’s excited little gaze as he lowered his dark pearly eyes, no obvious emotions in them as he calmly replied, “Nope.”
However, Verian was not even the slightest bit convinced with that single “nope”. She grabbed onto his huge hand with her tiny one and said, “You don’t like me now but someday soon, you will.”
“You’re that confident?”
Heaton’s fingertips gently brushed against the edge of her lips as Verian grabbed his hand and stuck it on her cheeks. “You said earlier that you’re mine and no one would be able to snatch you away. Since you’re mine, of course I’m confident enough to make you like me. However, it’s only a matter of time.”
Besides, in the short span of two days, she could ‘seriously’ feel his feelings toward her…
Was he truly starting to like her?
Heaton scoffed lightly as he withdrew his huge hand and gave her forehead a flick. It hurt slightly. With a frown, Verian asked, “Why’d you flick my forehead for?”
“Don’t simply make any weird assumptions next time. Sam has no relationship with me.”
With his single statement, Verian’s eyes immediately lit up, “You’ve never dated Sam?”
Heaton gave her a cold glance and said, “Have I ever mentioned that Sam was my girlfriend before?”
She actually thought that Sam was once his girlfriend…
Verian felt slightly odd. “Then what you meant is that you and Sam were merely normal good friends? You were only feeling guilty for her?”
“I have never once had any feelings that were beyond normal friendship toward Sam. Are you satisfied now?”
As Verian listened to his cold voice, she was exceptionally delighted as she hugged him and said, “Yes, satisfied. Very satisfied.”
With that, Verian decided to probe deeper, “What about Lain then? Have you dated Lain before?”
“Nope.”
“But Lain said that when you had depression, she stayed with you for a full year.”
Could nothing truly have happened when two single people live together for a full year?
“So, does eating and living together mean sharing the same bed?”
Verian was speechless.
That was a fair point.
Now it seemed that Lain had intentionally phrased it like that in order to cause her to misunderstand the whole ordeal on her own.
“But I’m still jealous. I’m jealous of them knowing you so early in your life. Moreover, they were the most important friends in your heart.”
Verian was even more envious of them to have witnessed the crazy and wild side of Heaton’s youth.
Heaton must not have been as mature ten years ago as he was now.
“Riana, you truly are a jealous bucket.”
Heaton stared at her with his dark pearly eyes as he made such a decisive conclusion.
Verian’s tiny face was blushing heavily as she lowered her watery eyes and spoke in a soft tone while biting her lips, “It’s not like I did it intentionally… I’m really afraid that after I return to North City with you, another girl will appear to tell me that she had a very different relationship with you…”
Oddly enough, Heaton felt his heart ache slightly as he pulled her into him while pressing his thin lips on her forehead. He spoke in a soft tone, “When we return to North City, let’s go get our marriage certificate.”
Verian’s heart trembled as she recalled the incident that happened previously when they went to collect their marriage certificate. As usual, she felt slightly afraid and could not help but explain to Heaton, “Heaton, on the night of your car accident, it wasn’t me that ordered someone to do it.”
“I know.”
She could not bear parting with him.
“But wouldn’t it be too soon for us to collect the marriage certificate the moment we return to North City?”
Although they had been through a lot between them, Verian somehow felt that registering and collecting the marriage certificate now would be too soon.
Heaton took a glance at her belly, “So could you be waiting for after you give me a second child before you agree to marry me?”
Verian’s tiny face blushed red all the way down to her neck.
They were clearly not married yet but they already had two children together…
This pace was way too fast compared to a normal couple!
Verian pouted her lips. “Are you rushing to collect the certificate with me just because I’m pregnant?”
She did not wish to be those women who forced Heaton into marriage by giving him a child. However, she was already pregnant now and Heaton wanted to collect the marriage certificate with her. Hence, she happened to feel the illusion of an increased maternal honor due to the son’s virtue.
The man raised his finger then once again, hitting her forehead heavily as he said, “Are you having maternal syndrome?”
Verian was speechless.
The edges of Verian’s mouth twitched as she did not feel like she was overthinking.
Heaton let out a deep sigh.
Besides, Verian was only a twenty-four year old girl and even though she had given birth to a child, she was still very young. Hence, all of Heaton’s patience was completely spent on her.
“But the old man happens to dislike me. Without a doubt, he would not want me to marry you.”
John had always disliked her from the start. Due to her surrogate pregnancy incident back then, her first impression toward John was poor. Verian was able to understand that since no girl of good qualities would ever agree to being a surrogate for a stranger, right?
The way she knew Heaton was not normal, and John having a bad impression of her was completely normal.
“Your belly is carrying his grandson. As much as he dislikes you, he won’t stop our marriage.”
John was a very traditional thinking man. If he had known about Heaton getting her pregnant, he would never let him off the hook so easily.
The person that should be worried was him, not Verian.
Verian curiously asked, “Heaton, you prefer sons, don’t you?”
Or else, why would he keep rambling about ‘my son’ or addressing the child in her belly as John’s grandson now.
She was slightly worried that he would be disappointed if the child in her belly turned out not to be a boy?
