Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 212

“The most important thing for you to do right now is to focus and take care of your pregnancy. Don’t worry about other things.”

After Heaton finished drying her hair, he lowered his head and kissed her forehead.

While pouting her lips, Verian said, “So that means that starting from tomorrow, I should only stay at home and am not allowed to go anywhere else, right?”

From how it seemed, Heaton would most probably not allow her to go back to work.

“So, you still wish to return to working at the Yash Company?”

His gaze dimmed as Verian’s neck recoiled. She said, “No. Why would I ever possibly want to return to work at the Yash Company? However, I can’t possibly just stay at home from this moment on, right? I’ll be bored to death.”

Besides, if she did not work now, she would have no income. Did that mean she would fully depend on Heaton alone to live?

She was truly afraid of what would happen if Heaton was bored of her someday.

Did the books not mention that as much as a couple loved each other, sooner or later, two people would end up splitting up due to the astronomical gap between them?

Heaton was such an achieved man and his career was impressive. On the other hand, she was a fallen beauty. If she had no career and any recognition of her family status now, she would feel slightly inferior even though Heaton was truly willing to accept the marriage certificate with her.

Heaton pouted his lips. He questioned, “Are you willing to work by my side?”

“... Well, just forget about it then.”

Heaton pulled her into him as his huge hand gently patted her thin and slender back. He said with a sigh, “Then just stay here and focus on taking care of your pregnancy. After the child’s born and your body has recovered, I won’t stop you from going anywhere you want.”

“Heaton, those good friends of yours, do they all have very impressive girlfriends?”

Heaton raised his brows slightly when she asked that question. “Why’d you ask something like that so suddenly?”

Verian licked her lips and said, “I’d be lying if I said I don’t feel inferior to you. The Mont family has gone bankrupt, my family status is nothing, and there’s no one from my family that is able to care for me. I don’t currently have a job or a career. I feel that… I, in my current state, is a little unworthy of you.”

As much as she hated Nancy, she could not help but admit that Nancy was more fitting to be his wife than her.

She lowered her tiny face and seemed slightly depressed. Heaton stared intently at her with his dark pearly eyes. He said, “I don’t need a girlfriend whose job or career is too impressive or achieving. Perhaps you feel that I’m not good enough and require an impressive and capable girlfriend to help me with my career?”

“... I absolutely don’t mean that.”

She knew that someone with Heaton’s status did not require any partnership forged in the market to boost his career.

The only thing was…

“I think I don’t understand you even the slightest bit. Nancy understood your hobbies and favorite tastes, Lain knew what your heart was thinking about. However, I know nothing about your hobbies and tastes, and I have no clue about what your heart is thinking of. If we carry on like this, I’m afraid that someday, you’ll get bored of me.”

Her worries were due to how amazingly well-achieved Heaton was. So much so, she admired and adored him.

On the other hand, she had nothing to rely on. Was it normal to have such thoughts?

Heaton chuckled. “If you want to understand me, all we have is time in the future. However, I don’t wish to spend the remaining years of my life with a woman who has a mind as equally quick thinking as mine. That’s too boring.”

Verian pouted and said, “Oh, so you’re saying that my mind is a little slow and I’m a bit dumb?”

“A little.”
