Heaton stared at the tiny woman who tightly covered herself with a blanket as subtle delight could be seen from his eyes. He reached out to pull the covers away and said, “Be careful not to smother the baby.”
Verian pulled the covers aside as she stared at him with a pair of watery eyes. She spoke in a soft tone, “All you know now is caring about the baby. I wanna go to sleep now, don’t disturb my sleep.”
She turned over and faced her back to him.
Heaton frowned slightly. He lowered his head and inched closer next to her ear as he asked in a soft tone, “Don’t wish to understand me?”
Verian stared right back at him and said, “How do I understand you?”
As she thought, she knew that things like these could only be slowly understood in future days…
The man, however, lowered his head and kissed her. He said, “Start from the body and heart. There’s no other way faster than this method. Do you want to try it out?”
Verian was speechless.
Verian’s tiny face blushed heavily from being kissed by him. She said, “Heaton Fudd… You ruffian!”
…
Not long after Heaton arrived at the office the next morning, Verian had just woken up. After she had breakfast, her stomach began hurting. It was hurting her so much that she could not stand up.
She instinctively touched her belly and her instincts told her that her child might be in danger, causing her tiny face to instantly turn pale.
She picked up her phone to give Heaton a call.
Heaton was in a meeting when he received the phone call.
When Heaton noticed Verian’s phone call, his eyebrows twitched as he swiftly picked up the call.
“Heaton… My stomach’s suddenly hurting…”
Heaton’s gaze was stunned as he immediately told Kush who was beside him, “Send an ambulance to Shallow Bay Mansion.”
Kush felt something was immensely off as he immediately called an ambulance.
Heaton did not even have the time to end the meeting as he strode out of the meeting room with a serious look on his face while holding onto his phone.
The board of directors were all puzzled.
“Assistant Kush, what exactly has happened?”
“Yeah, why is President Fudd so nervous?”
Kush explained, “Boss has to attend to some personal matters. Today’s meeting will temporarily end here.”
After Kush was done speaking, he turned around and left the meeting room, catching up to Heaton.
Heaton clutched onto his phone as he told Verian who was on the other end of the call, “I’ve already called an ambulance and am going back right now. Don’t hang up the call.”
Verian slouched onto the table while clutching her phone. Her voice sounded slightly weak. “Heaton, I’m a little scared.”
“Don’t overthink it, you’re going to be okay.”
Kush was driving and Heaton was constantly on the phone with Verian even when he got in the car.
It was only until he could hear the sounds of the sirens from the ambulance through the call that Heaton’s tense and nervous mood relaxed.
“Heaton, I’ll hang up now, the ambulance is here.”
“Yeah, I’ll be at the hospital in a bit. Don’t be afraid.”
…
When Verian arrived at the hospital, she was spotted coincidentally by Wilson. Wilson casually asked a random doctor.
“What happened to that girl?”
