Heaton stared intently at the tiny woman. He raised his brows slightly and said, “Riana, perhaps I will become a complete stranger to you someday. Will you still miss me then?”
“It was all because of that, I do want to understand you better. If you actually become a complete stranger to me someday, I will be mentally ready.”
Verian took a deep breath and said, “Heaton, do you know… who I ran into today?”
“Who?”
Verian initially did not wish to say. However, she felt that keeping it from him would be bad so she said, “Xyla.”
Heaton’s dark eyes dimmed as he said, “Xyla? How’d you run into her?”
It seemed Xyla actually approached Verian after she was ‘rejected out the door’ by Heaton!
Verian explained, “I ran into her when I was shopping at the mall. Her purse fell on the ground and I noticed a picture of you. So… Heaton, can you tell me the whole story between you and Xyla? I don’t wish to learn about your past from other people all the time. Since I will soon know about it, why don’t you just tell me yourself?
“Xyla is my ex girlfriend. We dated for half a year, five years ago.”
“Then… Why'd you guys break up? Can you tell me?”
Heaton stared intently at her with his dark eyes. He then seriously said word by word, “Riana, you’ll have to listen closely to what I’m about to tell you. Perhaps, it’ll change your mind on signing the marriage certificate after hearing what I said but, I’ll respect your decision.”
“I broke up with Xyla because I have a secret ailment. This ailment is very rare and when I have an attack, my own conscious mind will be asleep and I will become someone else. I have no control over whatever he does and I will have no memory of it. When my other personality manifests itself more frequently, my own conscious mind will be weaker until one day, I will become someone else or perhaps, I’m able to suppress my other personality and stop it from ever manifesting.”
After Verian listened to his calm statement, her eyes gradually turned red as she said, “So, Xyla said you had a mental disorder and dumped you?”
“Is this not? This alone is a mental disorder. Riana, you have a right to break up with me and I won’t stop you. As for the child in your belly though…”
Before Heaton could finish his statement, Verian had already wrapped both arms around his neck, pulling him down as she pressed her lips against his thin lips.
She said while her heart ached, “I don’t allow you to break up with me. Does it mean that just because you have split personality disorder, you won’t want me anymore? I don’t allow it. Listen here Heaton… It’s not your fault for being sick. I can stay with you to help you treat it but I don’t allow you to say that you will break up with me.”
The man nuzzled his forehead against hers whilst he used his fingers to gently wipe away her tears. He gently smiled and said, “Not afraid? Xyla was avoiding me like the plague back then.”
Verian raised her brows and said in a dissatisfied tone, “Xyla doesn’t even love you. If she truly loved you, why would she leave you because you’re sick? What right does Xyla have to call you a mental disorder patient. She’s unworthy to be your girlfriend and unworthy to be liked by you.”
Heaton lowered his head and kissed the tip of her nose. He spoke in a soft tone, “Xyla was actually never liked by me.”
“But… wasn’t she your ex girlfriend?”
“I actually had two to three relationships but they all failed.”
A shred of delight flashed across Verian’s heart as she said, “So… you meant to say that you had no feelings toward those ex girlfriends of yours?”
Heaton stared at her delighted look. A teasing flash could be seen across the bottom of his eyes as he said, “You seemed to be very happy to know that I was dumped by Xyla.”
Verian was speechless.
Verian let out a light cough while her tiny face was slightly blushing. She then confidently said, “If she didn’t dump you, would I even still get a turn now?”
She nuzzled up against him. She continued while holding onto his huge hand, “I want to thank those women who dumped you. If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t have met you, who are so amazing.”
“Riana, I’m not as amazing as you imagine. Perhaps, someday, my second personality would manifest and he might harm you.”
Upon bringing up his second personality, Verian racked her brain as she pondered then said while feeling slightly curious, “How exactly does your second personality look like?”
“Xyla saw it before and it terrified her so much that she moved to America.”
However, Heaton was slightly puzzled. Back then in S City, when he had a lapse in memory, perhaps, his second personality had spent the entire night with Verian. However, the personality Verian described was way different than what Xyla mentioned.
The personality Xyla met was cruel and inhumane. However, the one Verian described was very gentle.
“Oh that’s right! Heaton, do you remember the night before we returned from S City? You became very different that night. It was as if you’ve become someone else entirely. When I asked you the next day, you said that you had absolutely no recollection of it. I was quite frustrated then. Could it be that your other personality spent the night with me back then?”
“Yes.”
Verian blushed and said, “But he was quite well with me though. He even called me… babe.”
“Why? You seem to be missing him?”
The manly voice above her head suddenly sounded cold.
Verian raised her head and looked at his cold handsome face. She said, “You wouldn’t be jealous of yourself now, would you?”
Heaton was speechless.
Verian continued, “That Heaton on that night was exceptionally gentle. You’re never that gentle to me.”
The man forcefully grabbed onto her wrist and said, “You like him?”
Verian was speechless.
Verian blinked her eyes as she thought that was a very dumb question.
It was still him, just him with a different personality.
“You’re not allowed to love another man that isn’t me.”
She intentionally probed him, “But he is still you.”
Heaton was speechless again.
Heaton gritted his teeth then released her before calming himself down.
Verian approached him and stopped joking. She said with a serious tone, “Even though how gentle that personality is, I still like you. Next time when he manifests himself again, I will show him and make sure he never comes out and disturbs our normal life again!”
The corner of Heaton’s mouth twitched.
“You think he’ll listen to you?”
Verian was especially confident as she said, “He will. He likes me alot. He would hug me and call me babe. If he doesn’t listen to me…”
