Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 285

Verian sat on the stairs while cradling herself for a long while.

Jane’s voice could still be heard echoing in her ears.

“Could you have not known about it, cousin-in-law? Cousin booked an appointment with the doctor for your surgery already…”

Verian’s face looked pale as she sat still for a really long while.

That child… could she still not save it?

She gently closed her eyes as her tears finally fell.

Verian went to the hospital on her own.

She sat in the doctor's office. The doctor sighed after looking at her medical report and said, “Miss Mont, it’s only a matter of time that the child will be miscarried. Why don’t you abort the child while it’s still early? It’ll be less harmful to you. You’re still so young and there will be plenty of opportunities for you to have another child in future.”

Verian was extremely depressed when she left the hospital.

She did not wish to return home so she began aimlessly wandering about on the streets.

Somehow, unknowingly, she wandered into an old church. She entered the church and closed her eyes while facing the cross. She began to silently pray.

“Mommy is sorry, dear child. If mommy was a little more careful, perhaps you’ll still be able to enter the human realm. It’s my fault… You have to be happy on the other side and next time, you can reincarnate in mommy's belly again and I will protect you well.”

A black car stopped near the church.

“Hey, it’s Madam Fudd. Verian is alone in an old church. Should I make our move now?”

“Be sure to not reveal anything!”

It was unsure how long Verian stayed in the church. When she left the church, her mouth was suddenly gagged with a piece of cloth. She was struggling desperately but it did not take ther long to pass out.

“Drag her into the car!”

In her dazed state, Verian was unsure of her exact location. When she woke up, she realised she was blindfolded and it was pitch black in front of her. She wanted to move but she realized she had been bound.

“Who exactly are you guys?! What do you guys want?!”

“We don’t want anything. We’re just under the orders of someone else to make you disappear.”

Verian trembled in her heart and said, “Who?”

“We can’t tell you that information.”

Verian began to resist them. She said, “Let me go! When my husband finds out that I’m missing, he’ll come looking for me! How much did your employer offer to pay you? I can give you guys double that amount!”

Those two men began cackling out loud and said, “Do you take us for a fool? Since we have already kidnapped you, if we release you, not only would you not pay us double but you’d even report this incident to the cops and have them arrest us! Behave and maybe we’ll give you a quick and painless death!”

Verian’s heart was pounding rapidly and she could feel it in her throat.

Her mind was in a mess.

Who exactly wanted to kill her?

Jane was in her room. She was anxiously holding onto her phone.

She was startled when Sarah knocked on her door and she dropped her phone onto the floor.

Sarah entered with a plate of fruits. She looked at her with a puzzled look. “Jane, why do you look so pale? Are you sick? Are you not feeling well?”

Sarah placed the plate of fruits down, walked toward her and felt her forehead. Jane shook her head and said, “Mom, I... I’m fine…”

The phone that she dropped suddenly began to ring and Sarah was about to pick it up.

Jane was extremely frantic and she seemed completely frozen in place, unable to move.

Sarah looked at the caller I.D. and it was an unknown number. She frowned and asked her daughter, “Who’s calling you, Jane?”
