The heavy snowfall lasted for a few days in North City.
The snow finally stopped that morning. The sunlight shone gently through the cold snow.
Verian stared at Heaton who was still asleep for a very long time.
He was in quite a deep sleep from last night.
Zion had left so would it be Heaton or Xavier to wake up soon?
Verian stared at him with a worried look for half an hour.
Heaton slowly opened his heavy eyelids. His eyes stung when the sunlight shone right into his eyes. He noticed Verian who was sitting opposite the sunlight.
“Riana?”
“Heaton, you’re finally awake!”
Verian lunged at him and immediately hugged his neck.
Heaton sat up, reached out and hugged her back.
“The other personalities appeared?”
Verian spoke in a slightly depressed tone, “It was Zion. Heaton, did you know that Zion who saved me back then was actually you?”
Heaton was slightly stunned. He never once thought that the person who saved her ten years ago was actually his other personality.
Zion Fudd… was actually him.
Verian’s tears fell and said, “He left last night.”
Heaton reached out and gently wiped away her tears with his fingertips. He said, “I felt it.”
Verian buried herself in his chest, closed her eyes and sobbed. She said, “Heaton, I’m a little sad.”
Heaton kissed her temple and spoke in a soft tone, “Good girl.”
Verian’s phone chimed and she suddenly recalled something. “Oh, that’s right, the morning news said that Queena was arrested. It’s related to the arson, ten years ago.”
Heaton’s gaze dimmed and said, “This might be related to Zion.”
“Zion?”
“Yeah, he rushed in to save you back then so, he might have seen the culprit.”
Verian felt complicated emotions in her heart. She was touched, sad and her heart ached… plenty of emotions were mixed together in her chest.
…
Verian gave Wilson a call before Heaton woke up.
Not long after, Wilson arrived at the Shallow Bay Villa.
“How do you feel, Heaton?”
Heaton nodded and said, “I feel fine, just a little tired.”
“It’s normal for the body to feel tired when a switch in personality happens.”
Verian asked, “Dr. Jarret, Zion told me that he only appears whenever Heaton’s sad. Whenever Heaton’s infuriated though, well, Xavier will appear. What does that mean?”
Wilson explained, “In medicine, sadness and anger are two extreme emotions. One is caused by a constant depression, a blue emotion per say. The other one is a red emotion that is explosive and is desperately wanting to be released. To patients with schizophrenia however, whenever they are faced with extreme depression, their brains will create a new identity to replace them in order to help them cope. They themselves will be unaware or desensitized to the sadness. Zion existed through this way. In a deeper meaning, Zion happens to be the twenty-two year old Heaton.”
Verian asked in a puzzled tone, “But when Zion said farewell to me last night, he seemed to have actually left. Dr. Jarret, can a personality leave too?”
“In a more accurate sense, Zion didn’t leave but he has recovered thanks to you. He has merged with the main personality.”
After Wilson left, Verian asked while staring at Heaton, “Zion only appeared because you’re sad… but, Heaton, why were you suddenly so sad? What exactly happened?”
She was actually completely oblivious to everything.
