Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 288

Verian had a puzzled look as she stared at him.

“Gone mad now?”

Heaton carried her onto the bed with both of her legs hanging out the side. Heaton took a piece of tissue and began wiping her small skinny white feet.

The bottom of her feet was slightly dirty.

Verian then suddenly reached out to pinch his face.

Heaton did not frown even for a single bit nor did he look up. He was quite used to her doing small things like that.

Whenever she felt uncertain, she tended to pinch his face and this was not her first time doing so.

Verian’s heart felt full as she felt the solid touch. She then leaned over and hugged his neck tightly with both arms.

She finally could not hold back her emotions so, she once again began to cry, “I actually thought you were burned to death by the fire in order to save me… Heaton… I was really afraid earlier…”

Heaton hugged her tightly while patting her back with his huge hand. He let out a light sigh and said, “I told you before that I won’t leave sooner than you.”

The instant Verian’s tears began pouring out, she clenched her fists and pounded his back heavily. She said, “I was scared to death by you earlier…”

“Are you trying to kill me, Madam Fudd?”

“Ah?”

She frantically got out of his arms and noticed he looked pale from the pain.

Verian held onto his face and asked, “Where are you not feeling too well, Heaton?”

She snapped her focus back after she was done asking and shifted her gaze onto his back.

That was right, in order to protect her back then, he shielded her from the collapsing fiery beam from above. If that fiery beam did not hit her then it must have hit… Heaton’s back.

Verian’s chest trembled as she said, “I’m sorry… can… can I look at your back…?”

Heaton was seated on the bedside while facing his back at her. Verian carefully took his clothes off. Fortunately, he did not wear his clothes for too long and his clothes were not stuck to his wounds.

Verian thought she was already mentally prepared. However, the moment she took his shirt off and when she noticed the burns on his back, her heart wrenched.

It was a huge burnt patch and it looked horrifying so it must hurt.

She actually pounded his back...earlier.

She sniffled and said with teary red eyes, “I’m sorry Heaton… I didn’t mean to pound your wounds earlier, does it still hurt?”

At this moment, she felt incredibly guilty when Heaton sustained such a serious injury for her.

Heaton turned around slightly, reached out to wipe away her tears. He focused intensely at her and said, “It’s perfectly acceptable for Mr. Fudd to save Madam Fudd which resulted in his injuries so what are you crying for? I am still alive and well in front of you and besides, I’m not dead.”

Verian covered his thin lips with her hand and said, “You’re not allowed to mention that word.”

Heaton pulled her hand away and gave it a kiss. He then lowered his head and pressed his forehead against hers while speaking in a soft voice, “I should be the one apologizing and if only I had found you sooner, perhaps the child could be…”

Verian’s heart felt as if it had been sliced at the mention of her child. How could Heaton not be sad about losing a child?

“How can you blame yourself for that. Heaton, we already have Little Jelly Bean and maybe we’ll have more children in future but you’re the only one I have.”

They were still young and if they wanted children, they would have plenty of opportunities left in future. However, if she was to lose Heaton, then the loss would be permanent.

There was only one Heaton Fudd in this world.

Heaton stared at her with a subtle smile on his lips. He said, “So, I’m the most important person in your heart?”

Verian hugged his neck, leaned closer and kissed his thin lips…

The door to their room was suddenly opened.
