In the police station.
“I am here to visit my mom, officer.”
The cops raised their brows and glanced at Wanelle before saying, “Your mom?”
Wanelle nodded and said, “Queena Sheen.”
The cops raised their eyebrows higher when they heard Queen’s name. They said, “There’s overwhelming evidence and witnesses against her and yet she refuses to admit. Go on in there and have a heart-to-heart with her.”
Wanelle gripped her palms tighter while waves of hatred sprouted from her heart but she remained smiling on her face. She said, “Alright. Thank you, officers.”
When she entered the interrogation room, both of Queena’s hands were cuffed on the table. Wanelle immediately pounced over and yelled, “Mom!”
“Wanelle!”
“Have a nice conversation, the both of you!”
After the cops left, the door to the interrogation room closed.
Wanelle was seated in front of Queena. Queena was holding onto her daughter’s hand as she said, “Wanelle, you need to think of something to save mommy and get me out!”
“Don’t worry mom, I have already gone to Uncle Quain for help and he said he will hire the best lawyer for your defense.”
Queena closed her eyes and there was a flash of despair in her eyes. She said, “Do you think Uncle Quain will still care about me if I really ended up in jail? I think he will avoid me like the plague since this would be a negative press for both him and the Quain family.
“Then, what should we do… mom?
A flash of sinister intent could be seen at the bottom of Queena’s eyes. She said, “Heaton actually dug history up after ten years. He could’ve done so sooner but why now, at this moment? No matter what, you need to help mommy get out of here, okay?”
Wanelle nodded while sobbing. She said, “Don’t worry mom, I will think of something to get you out of here. It was that wench, Verian Mont’s fault for you to end up in such a predicament…”
“Don’t cry now. If you absolutely have to then, you’ll have to go beg Verian.”
“Mom…”
“Wanelle, you can’t disappoint me now.”
“Don’t worry, mom, even if I have to beg Verian. I will get you out of here.”
…
Both Heaton and Verian were hospitalized so John brought Little Jelly Bean over to visit.
Little Jelly Bean laid beside Verian’s bed and asked in a childish tone, “Daddy, Monty, when are you guys going to be discharged?”
Verian patted Little Jelly Bean’s head and gently said, “Jelly Bean miss us now, don’t you?”
“Yeah, I miss my brother too.”
Little Jelly Bean reached out to touch Verian’s belly which stunned her slightly.
“Jelly Bean!” Heaton raised his voice.
Little Jelly Bean was startled. She asked with a frown, “Why are you so mean to me, daddy? I only wanted to touch it!”
Verian looked pale but she said with a bitter tone, “It’s okay, Jelly Bean only wanted to have a feel.”
Little Jelly Bean gave Heaton an ugly look before scoffing.
Heaton’s gaze dimmed.
John noticed the hidden meaning so he told Little Jelly Bean, “Jelly Bean, grandpa needs to talk to your parents. Go on ahead and play with Uncle Kush in the hospital’s garden for a bit.”
Little Jelly Bean climbed down the bed obediently while replying, “Okay.”
Kush led Little Jelly Bean by her hand and said, “Come on now Jelly Bean, your Uncle Kush will play with you. Let’s go.”
After Kush left with Little Jelly Bean, John clutched his walking stick and stared at Verian with a serious look.
