Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 301

In the evening, Heaton and Verian were having their dinner in the ward.

James paid a sudden visit and as he showed up, Verian was holding a piece of braised pork with her chopsticks to feed Heaton. With James’ sudden appearance, Verian’s ears were blushing red.

Heaton was calm and aloof as usual. Looking indifferent, he put down his chopsticks and broke the silence. “Second Uncle, why are you here?”

James glanced at them and put a faint smile on his face. “Heaton, I’ve something to tell you.”

“Second Uncle, what’s the matter?”

“You…” James glanced at Verian. “Can you go for a walk with me?”

It seemed like Second Uncle wanted to talk to Heaton alone.

Heaton got out of bed and draped a coat around his shoulders. He then turned towards Verian. “You can eat first.”

Verian nodded and reminded him. “Come back as soon as you can. The dinner won’t be nice if it’s cold.”

Heaton stretched his arms and brushed her soft hair. “Okay.”

Heaton followed James out of the ward to the hospital’s backyard. During that, James frowned while not saying anything.

Heaton started the conversation. “Second Uncle, if there’s anything, just spill it.”

James stopped walking and Heaton could see the struggle and deliberation in his eyes. “Heaton, I’ve thought of this matter for a long time. Instead of knowing the truth from someone else, I think I should come and personally justify myself to you.”

“Justify?”

What did Second Uncle need to justify to someone from the younger generation?

James nodded gravely. The two of them walked to a quiet area in the backyard. James looked around to make sure there was no one near before taking a deep breath. “Heaton, Verian… She’s my daughter.”

Heaton was startled for a moment and laughed soon after. “Second Uncle, this joke isn’t funny.”

He turned around and was about to leave when James continued, “I know you don’t believe this but Verian’s mother, Jolin, had my baby during that time.”

Heaton’s hands tightened. He coldly asked, “If that’s the case, how can you be so certain Riana is your daughter?”

“I’ve asked someone to look into it. Grayson Mont has blood type A and the same goes for Jolin. However, Verian’s blood type is AB. You should probably what I’m telling you.”

“So?” Heaton clenched his fists even tighter. The bones and veins on his hands were visible.

James gazed at him. “My blood type is AB too.”

Heaton was dumbfounded and for a long time, he did not say a word.

“There’s no such coincidence in this world. When I first met Verian, I could feel an indescribable familiarity and closeness toward her. Heaton, all this happened because of my previous sins. I…”

As James explained himself, his tone was full of guilt and regret. He lowered his head and was soon unable to continue.

Heaton closed his eyes and recalled the times when Riana mentioned she felt Second Uncle was amicable when she first met him.

Could it be…that Riana was indeed Second Uncle’s biological daughter?

Then… What were they? Patrilineal cousins?

They had obtained a marriage license and were legally husband and wife. They even had a daughter.

As he thought of his smart, adorable Little Jelly Bean, he could not believe that Verian was his patrilineal cousin sister.

As he thought of this, his tone toward James became icy cold. “After telling me all this, what are you trying to imply?”

“Heaton, I…” James hesitated.

However, Heaton’s words were resounding. “Riana and I have obtained our marriage license and are husband and wife now. I don’t care whose daughter she is. This will never change the fact that she’s my wife. If the purpose of Second Uncle’s visit is to separate the two of us because you want to acknowledge her as your daughter, I’ll firmly tell you now that it’s impossible.”

“Heaton, you’ve misunderstood. I’ve never thought of separating you two. I don’t even have the rights to break you two up. I can keep this secret forever but…secrets can’t be kept forever. If someone else were to discover this, it’ll affect you and Verian…”

“Second Uncle, as long as you keep this secret, you won’t have to worry about other stuff. Riana is my wife, I’ll protect her.”

With a cold face, Heaton turned around and walked away.
