After working for the rest of the morning, Serene sent a text to Verian while she was having lunch in the cafeteria.
“What do you think it means when a man just can’t stop kissing you?”
Verian was writing a self-reflection letter when she received that text.
As to why she was writing one in the first place though, well, that was all because of that night when she got completely drunk with Serene.
She found the text comical as she asked, “Who’s kissing you all the time?”
Serene replied, “... Just answer my question first then I... I’ll tell you who that is.”
Verian could easily tell who that person was without Serene telling her. She replied, “Was it Dr. Jarret?”
Serene was speechless.
Was it really that obvious?
No, it should not be. Besides, she very rarely brought up the intimacy between Wilson and her in front of Verian so how could Verian guess their relationship so easily?
Verian asked, “Do you like Dr. Jarret then?”
Serene instinctively replied with three words, “No, I don’t.”
“You have to make it clear to him sooner if you don’t like him. I feel that Dr. Jarret has serious feelings for you.”
Serene frowned, “How is he serious? I feel like he has a crush on my roommate.”
Wilson who was usually uninterested in gossip and only kept to himself asked a few questions about Shirley this morning and the only question remaining would be her Wechat account.
“Ah? No way, right. I don’t think Dr. Jarret is that kind of a person.”
“Not that kind of person? Oh please, I think he only wanted to have sex without the responsibility. However, I have already decided that I will keep my distance from him. Besides, the new year is coming up soon and I’ll be returning home. I won’t be seeing him for a really long time, now.”
Verian replied, “Judging from your tone, why do I feel like you’re just throwing a tantrum?”
Serene was speechless.
Serene seemed unfocused as she ate the food on her plate.
“Is this seat taken, Serene?”
“Oh, no. You can sit here.”
Sitting in front of her was Dr. Homer, the head of the gastrointestinal department. According to the gossip amongst the doctors, Dr. Homer graduated from a prestigious school two years ago. He was known to make everyone feel comfortable around him with the way he talked and his looks. He was an elegant man.
As Serene pondered about someone who had such amazing qualities like him, he should have a girlfriend, right?
Serene let out an awkward cough, inched closer to him and asked teasingly, “Do you have a girlfriend, Dr. Homer?”
Dr. Homer choked on his food as his face blushed suddenly. He nervously replied, “Not yet but I feel like I’ll have a girlfriend soon.”
“Ah? Oh.”
Serene reacted calmly as she sliced the drumstick on her plate. Why did she find herself lacking any appetite to eat anything today when she usually drooled over a drumstick?
Liam curiously stared at her. Was she interested in him since she asked him if he had a girlfriend or not? Was she trying to get some sort of confirmation from him?
Was that the end of her question?
Liam stared at her as she picked up her rice with her chopsticks. He asked, “No appetite?”
Serene held up her head with one hand while eating depressingly with the other. She said, “The cafeteria food tastes bland today.”
“The fried edamame and pickles I have on my plate are pretty good. I haven’t touched it yet. Do you want to try some?”
As Liam spoke, he immediately picked up the fried edamame and pickles and placed it onto Serene’s plate. Serene could not refuse him in time.
Wilson was walking toward them with a tray in hand. Hence, it was only natural for him to notice both of them. He raised his brows when he saw Liam putting his food onto Serene’s plate.
As Serene was just about to try the fried edamame and pickles, a huge hand suddenly grabbed onto hers.
“You can’t eat salty food. You have a cold.”
Serene replied, “Ah?”
When did she catch a cold? How come she knew nothing about that?
