Flustered, Serene dragged Wilson out and both of them escaped from the ward.
“Why did you break his arm? What if he really sues you? You’ll be doomed!”
Wilson stared at the woman in front of him calmly. His voice was steady and he did not appear panicky at all, “There was no CCTV in the ward. Moreover, although I broke his arm, I did not say that I won’t treat him.”
Serene was speechless and dumbfounded.
Restless like an ant on a hot pan, she held her head in her tiny hands. “What should we do now? What if Jayden really tells the vice president about us? What if the vice president wants to fire us?”
Wilson took off his gloves calmly and threw it into a rubbish bin. Then, he held her hand and said, “Quit working then. Come back home and I’ll take care of you.”
Serene was speechless.
Serene lifted her head and stared at him blankly. Then, she blinked at him as she stood on tiptoes and reached out her hand to touch his forehead.
“You're not talking nonsense now, are you?”
Wilson took her hand away from his forehead and tried to calm her down, “Don’t worry. Jayden won’t dare to do anything to you. If he does, I’ll kill him.”
A murderous look flashed across the man’s eyes. Serene was still trembling.
Wilson pulled her into his embrace as his voice became gentle. Then, he said in a low voice, “Don’t be afraid.”
The woman let out a deep sigh. “Wilson, who are you, really? Don’t tell me you’re one of those most wanted criminals who commit heinous offences.”
Wilson pressed her head down gently as his lips curled into a faint smile. Then, he lowered his head and asked, “Will you be afraid of me if I’m really a bad guy who commits heinous crimes?”
“Of course!” Serene answered him truthfully.
Serene’s eyes were darting about while she was in his embrace. She was still thinking about Jayden. “What If Jayden really sues us? What should we do?”
She was not as bold as he was. She was afraid of going to prison and losing her job. Moreover, she was about to graduate soon. It was a crucial period for her. Her whole life would be doomed if she was caught up in such a big trouble.
Wilson lowered his head and kissed her forehead as he spoke in a gentle voice, “I’ll take care of this matter. Don’t worry.”
A few colleagues walked past the two and Serene pushed Wilson away immediately.
Their colleagues were still unaware that the both of them were a couple.
They would surely make fun of her if they found out.
Wilson saw her blushing and the smile on his face deepened.
…
After returning to the surgical department, Wilson ordered his doctor to treat Jayden’s broken arm.
Dr. Warner was puzzled and asked, “I thought Jayden Fane only had an occult femoral fracture? Why is his arm broken all of a sudden?”
Serene smiled awkwardly and said, “Dr. Warner, you better hurry up. Don’t let the patient wait for too long. I heard he was injured quite badly so you should check up on him as soon as possible.”
Suddenly, Wilson who was sitting in his chair blurted out, “Take your time. That guy deserved it. Let him suffer more. He won’t die.”
Both Dr. Warner and Serene were speechless.
That man was so cruel!
Serene wanted to follow Dr. Warner to watch him treat Jayden’s arm, but Wilson stopped her.
“Where are you going?”
Serene said as she smiled, “I… I’m going to go and take a look at what Dr. Warner is doing.”
“Aren’t you afraid that he’ll start touching you again after his arm recovers?”
“I bet he won’t have the guts to touch me again. I kicked him quite hard in the stomach earlier.”
Fear was still lurking in Serene’s mind as she recalled the scene of her kicking Jayden earlier. The Fane family would never let her go if Jayden became disabled or sterile by her kick.
Wilson looked at Serene’s tiny figure and thought that she surely had a lot of strength. However, she lacked certain fighting skills and would certainly be knocked out immediately if she came face to face with gangsters.
“Do you have any plans for the weekend?”
“I’m going on a shopping date with my friends.”
Shopping? What a lame thing to do.
Wilson immediately said, “Cancel your plans.”
Serene instantly refused and said, “Why? I’ve gone through a hard time finishing up my thesis and I’ve just managed to get some time to relax. It’s been so long since I last went shopping…”
