After Xylean was woken up by Yandel, she sat down at the dining table downstairs, eating the Thousands Mile Fragrance shrimp dumplings that Yale had bought with great difficulty, feeling extremely satisfied.
It even wiped away the bad mood that she was having today.
Yale leaned over and whispered in her ear, “Ms. Xylean, it was really difficult for me to buy these shrimp dumplings. I had to wait in the long queue before I could finally get them. I stepped on the accelerator as if I was in a car racing on my way back here because I was worried that the dumplings would get soggy. You have to finish it, otherwise Second Young Master will be unhappy again.”
“Beg me.”
“... What?” Yale gaped at Xylean, feeling puzzled.
Xylean curled her lips into a smirk. “Beg me to finish this bowl of dumplings.”
“This little brat… You better not torture me. Second Young Master will kill me.”
“For the sake of the loyalty you’ve shown to him, I’ll spare you.”
Yale was relieved.
After taking a shower, Yandel went downstairs in his home clothes.
“Come to the study with me.”
Yale followed Yandel to the study.
Upon arriving at the study, Yandel squinted his eyes and asked, “How’s the investigation going for the matter I asked you to look into?”
"I’ve found out why. Ms. Xylean had a conflict with her housemate because her housemate had deliberately turned off the main water valve, leading to a water cut while she was showering."
Yandel knitted his brows slightly. “It’s only because of that?”
“During that time, Yasmine made a verbal attack on Ms. Xylean.”
“What did she say?”
Yale was stunned for a moment, hesitating if he should tell Yandel. “This…”
“Tell me.”
“Yasmine said that Ms. Xylean was being financially supported by a sugar daddy and was a hidden mistress of a wealthy businessman… In short, what she said was very insulting and Ms. Xylean was furious upon hearing that. Because of that, she slapped Yasmine on the face and they started fighting.”
Yandel’s eyebrow furrowed deeper. “Did the police get any surveillance footage at the time?”
“I’ve gotten it and sent it to your email. By the way, Second Young Master, Officer Hank mentioned that when he called Ms. Xylean’s parents, they claimed that...they have no such daughter.”
Yandel’s heart skipped a beat, a wisp of strange emotions flashing under his eyes.
‘So it was because of this that lead to Leannie crying in his arms?’
‘Is that why she started having nightmares again?’ He wondered.
…
Yale and Yandel came out of the study. When they went downstairs, they noticed the person at the table was gone and the bowl on the table was already empty. She had finished all the dumplings and only half a bowl of soup was left.
Yandel was startled and realized what was going on. He strode to the second floor bedroom only to find no one there.
“Yale! Send someone to find Leannie!”
In the middle of the night, Yandel’s face was cold and sunken. He strode to the backyard and as soon as he stepped out of the mansion, he saw Xylean crouching by the bamboo forest under a dim light not far from him, teasing a little kitten.
His heart which had felt like it was lodged in his throat immediately relaxed and fell back to its original place.
The hand that was resting on the door handle also retracted.
Yale spotted Xylean by the bamboo forest too. He reported to Yandel, “Second Young Master, Ms. Xylean did not run away.”
He was being too anxious.
Yandel let out a long and light sigh before saying to Yale, “You can go back first.”
“Alright.”
