Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 424

Heaton carried the woman in his embrace with one hand as he stared at her intently.

“Why did you suddenly come back?”

As Verian heard his interrogative tone and saw him frowning, she thought he was unhappy about her return. She grumbled, “You’re not happy that I’m back in North City?”

Or…was he secretly dating some beautiful secretary?

Verian subconsciously swept her gaze across their surroundings and indeed, she saw a tall, slim beauty with a mature demeanor nearby.

“What are you looking at?”

Heaton was too anxious that she would have been knocked down by a car. It was because of this that when he was carrying her across the road, he had not taken a proper look at her up until now.

‘Is the environment in South City that good for nurturing people? Only a few days have passed and she seems even younger and more tender, totally unlike a pregnant woman. She doesn’t even look like a mother of two,’ Heaton wondered to himself.

Verian hit his shoulder lightly, hinting to him that she wanted him to release her. “Everyone’s watching us. Put me down.”

After crossing the road, Heaton’s hand grazed over the long, light pink skirt she was wearing as he tried to put her down. It was a low-saturated, gentle-colored pink skirt that looked lovely on her. He had never seen her wear this skirt before.

She donned a light beige knitted top and her long skirt billowed in the breeze, covering her up to her slender ankles. Along with a pair of flat, khaki-colored leather shoes, She looked bright, beautiful, and pleasant to the eyes. Her outfit was just to his liking, suiting his tastes.

“President Fudd, this is—”

President Walter from the Hacer Group looked at Verian and asked out of curiosity.

Heaton grabbed her hand and a faint smile appeared on his face. “She’s my wife.”

President Walter was stunned for a moment. He thought Verian was Heaton’s secretary or his temporary lover whom he doted upon on a whim. He had never expected that she was his wife.

“I didn’t know President Fudd was already married.”

Heaton glanced at the woman beside him with a gentle, affectionate gaze and subsequently replied, “I was rushing to marry her and hence, didn’t manage to plan a wedding ceremony in time. We’ll find a time for it later. When the time comes, I’ll invite you to have a drink at our wedding feast.”

Verian felt a surge of warmth in her heart. She smiled and nodded to President Walker as a greeting.

“When that time comes, you definitely have to invite me to your wedding.”

“Sure.”

After bidding goodbye, President Walter and his attractive secretary got into the car and left the place.

Heaton’s gaze fell onto Verian’s face again. There was a trace of mischief in his eyes.

“Why did you suddenly return from South City? Are you here to check up on me?”

Verian blushed in embarrassment and furrowed her brows. “You don’t look happy by my sudden appearance.”

She wanted to give him a surprise. However, rather than being surprised, he looked shocked instead. Due to this, the excitement she had earlier vanished into thin air as she became gloomy.

Heaton snorted. “No, it just feels a little unexpected.”

“You really don’t know why I came back all of a sudden?”

“Let me guess. You miss me?”

At the same time, Heaton pressed his chest against hers, her back leaning against the car.

Verian’s ears reddened in embarrassment. “You rogue!”

Heaton lowered his gaze and looked into her eyes. In his embrace, she looked delicate and petite. He gently wrapped his arm around her slender waist and unable to hold himself back, kissed her on the lips.

“...”

‘We’re outside now. How can he just kiss me in public?’ Verian thought.

She did not know how long they had been kissing when Heaton was finally willing to carry her into the car.

When they were seated, Heaton did not start the engine immediately and instead, he held her hand which was resting on her lap. He then rubbed the ring on her ring finger.

Verian stared at him intently and asked, “Do you still remember what day it is today?”

“What day is it?”

Verian was speechless.

He really had not ingrained the date of their wedding anniversary into his heart at all!

Feeling down, she retracted her hand from his immediately. “Nothing. Let’s go home.”
