Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 427

When the waiter brought in the steaming hot pickled fish and fried rice cakes, Verian's appetite became voracious.

She took a bite of the pickle inside the pickled fish to taste it. It was surprisingly delicious.

Heaton looked at her and asked, "How is it?"

“Hmm… There’s no doubt about it that this pickled fish was made by a seven-star restaurant. It tastes so much better than the roadside food stalls!”

Heaton took a bite and it also tasted pretty good to him.

Verian continued, “However, it’s normal for the food here to be more scrumptious than the ones sold by the street since the ingredients in a high-end restaurant must be fresh and have better quality.”

She then tasted the fish meat. The meat was tender and refreshing. When compared to the sliced fish sold by the streets, the texture of the meat here was on a whole new level.

The fried rice cakes were flavorful too. The food was tasty, so Verian ate quite a lot. After becoming pregnant, her appetite increased. However, she had never eaten so much unlike today.

“I want some rice.”

Heaton turned his head toward the waiter. ”Bring me a bowl of rice.”

"Aren't you getting rice too?" Verian asked.

She felt very guilty about eating rice alone and being the only one to gain weight.

Heaton raised his brows. "Do you want me to eat with you?"

Verian pouted and said truthfully, ”I’m scared that I’ll become fat. Your body has always been in such good shape.”

Heaton’s eyes flickered. “Serve me a bowl of rice as well.”

“Yes, President Fudd.”

Verian was delighted. Though she ate a lot, at the very least, someone would get fat together with her.

She looked at the fireflies flying in the air and reached out her hand to catch them. However, they swiftly flew away to avoid getting caught. Feeling curious, she asked, “It's not summer now, so where did you get so many fireflies from?"

“I asked people to catch them in the tropics.”

Verian was speechless.

True enough, you could just say the word and have whatever you want in a rich man’s world.

Spending money to catch fireflies in the tropics was something a person could do when they had nowhere else to spend their money on.

She had the pickled fish and fried rice cakes that she craved for while celebrating their anniversary. With this, Verian was satisfied.

“Can we celebrate this occasion every year from now on?”

Heaton hugged her from behind, lowering his head to kiss her ear. “Of course.”

“But… I feel particularly regretful about our celebration this year.”

Heaton was startled. “Huh? What’s wrong?”

‘Is she not pleased with the arrangements I prepared for her?’ Heaton wondered.

Verian turned her head to look at him. She gently touched the necklace on the collarbone and answered, "You prepared a gift for me but I didn't get anything for you."

“You can wrap yourself up as a gift for me,” The man said bluntly without blushing, staring at her with his smoldering eyes.

Verian turned around in his arms to face him. She tiptoed, wrapping her arms around his neck and bringing her soft lips together before dropping a solemn kiss on his thin lips.

“Heaton, thank you.”

At Clear River Town, the night sky was very bright and clear as the stars shone down, the moon looking particularly enchanting...

However, Serene’s mood was not enchanted at all.

She rested her chin on her hands and stared at the starry night sky, feeling that the night was bleak and becoming even more melancholic.

Serene's father and mother wandered hesitantly outside her room, whispering softly to each other.

“Tell me, why is Renie acting inattentive ever since she came home?”

“Is it because she didn’t perform well in her job?”

“Renie’s so smart so I don’t think it’s because of her job. Could it be relationship issues? Did she quarrel with Chainey?”
