Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 435

At Clear River Town.

After a sleepless night, Serene went back to work at the Resident Medical Center.

She met Wilson at the medical center’s entrance.

He was standing by his car, smoking. It seemed like he was waiting for her.

She wanted to ignore him but he had already extinguished his cigarette butt and was striding his way toward her to block her.

“What are you doing? You’re blocking my way.”

He lowered his eyes to look at her, his voice sounding hoarse. “Why did you run away yesterday? I thought I asked you to wait for me?”

Serene bit her lips and hung her head down. She did not have the courage to look him in the eyes as she was afraid she would not be able to hold herself back.

“Why should I listen to you? We don’t have any sort of relationship anymore.”

Wilson frowned, a trace of annoyance flashing across his eyes. He glanced at her workplace and said, “It’s fine if you want to throw a tantrum, but why did you quit the hospital? You won’t be able to apply the skills you’ve learned and I’ve taught you in such a small medical center.”

In layman’s term, he was trying to say that it was a waste of talent for someone like Serene to work at such a place.

Serene clenched her hands and said, “I don’t want to stay too far away from my parents. I feel happy working here as well.”

She was about to walk around him and enter the medical center when he grabbed her wrist and stopped her. “Are you sure?”

“Let me go. Stop pushing and pulling me in public.”

There were familiar faces all around town. It would not be nice if someone ran into them like this.

“Baby, come back with me, alright?”

“I don’t…”

Right when she started talking, a piercing, middle-aged female voice sounded across the street.

“Serene, you’re unbelievable. Look at you, you don’t like my nephew and now you’re here hugging another guy in front of the hospital!”

Serene was stunned. She looked toward the direction of the voice. “Aunt Grace…”

She wanted to push Wilson away but the man held her tighter instead. He trapped her in his embrace with his strong yet slender arms.

The man turned his dark gaze to Grace Jacob.

Probably because Wilson’s aura was too strong, Grace’s heart trembled. However, it did not influence her urge to stand up for her nephew, Joshua Cantrell.

“So you’re Serene’s secret lover?”

Serene frowned upon hearing that. “Aunt Grace, what are you talking about?”

“Isn’t it true? Serene, you look like a well-behaved lady. Who would’ve thought your private life is so messed up. You’re not even married yet but you’re sleeping around with some good-for-nothing! I’m so disappointed in you!”

Wilson’s eyes turned cold as he said, “Your nephew doesn't deserve Serene at all.”

Serene looked at Wilson unconsciously. He was wearing a solemn expression as he said that.

Grace was infuriated. She pointed at Wilson and Serene as she bawled at them. “You filthy couple, just listen to yourself! I was blind to think that you’re a nice girl. That was why I ended up introducing my nephew to a brat like you!”

Serene felt wronged being told off like that. Overwhelmed by humiliation, she said with bloodshot eyes, “Your nephew is a freak! It would be strange if he actually gets a girlfriend!”

“You brat! What nonsense are you talking about?”

Grace was about to rush over and grab Serene’s hair like a shrew, but Wilson had already pulled Serene into his embrace. He gripped Grace’s hands violently and said, “I don’t want to beat up a middle-aged woman so you’d better back off!”
