Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 436

Serene found no reason to reject Wilson's suggestion.

Who was she to follow him back to North City?

He was married, and that was a fact.

"Wilson, can we stop seeing each other for the time being?" Serene pleaded with him.

It might be a good thing for them to take a break from each other and cool down for a bit.

Maybe he would realize that he did not like her as much as he imagined after some time had passed. It was probably a moment of excitement and zest. He still had to spend the rest of his life with his real wife.

Serene was not a person who would destroy another person's family.

"Baby, I told you many times that Ruby and I…"

Before he could finish that sentence, Wilson's phone rang. The caller ID showed that it was Ruby.

Wilson and Serene looked at the phone at the same time.

Serene's beaded eyes trembled violently. She felt guilty, so she started to struggle aggressively. She opened the car door and jumped down from Wilson's body.

Wilson wanted to get out of the car and go after her, but his phone was still ringing.

He stared at her back as she ran away; his frown deepened.

Even if he went after her, Serene would probably not hear him out, nor would she trust him. Well, unless he broke off his absurd marriage with Ruby.

Wilson picked up the phone and spoke in a tone as cold as ice, "You'd better have something important to…"

"You answered my call, but you sound miserable. It certainly seemed like you had a problem with me."

"Ruby Luna, I might think fondly of you if we had gotten that divorce earlier instead of you playing those tricks on me."

Ruby laughed scornfully and said, "Then I guess you'd be thrilled to hear what I'm about to say."

Wilson knew Ruby too well. He frowned, "You'd better not be playing tricks again."

"How would I dare to play tricks on you? Speaking of that, you're the expert here. You've been observing that brat for years now, watching and preying on her like a hunter. You even destroyed her marriage. Didn't things work out as you wanted them to?"

Wilson felt uncomfortable when he realized that Ruby had spied on him. "Ruby, I'm warning you. Stop checking up on Serene and me!"

"Why would you mind people finding out what you've done? Was her ex-boyfriend's name Chainer? Did Serene know that you helped your cousin, Gwen, to seduce Chainer? He was her first love, but you destroyed her relationship… Mr. Jarret, you're the expert in playing tricks. I am no match for you!"

Wilson leaned against his seat, closed his eyes, and spoke in a cold tone, "Are you done talking?"

Ruby's voice sounded cheerful. "Absolutely. I called to let you know that I think there's no point for us to hold on to our marriage. Since you like Serene so much and we only got married for the mission, I'll be the good guy for once. I'll be your matchmaker."

Wilson frowned and asked doubtfully, "You'll agree to divorce?"

She had refused to get a divorce for the longest time. Even when their master tried to advise her, she did not want to let go. Why would she suddenly change her tune?

Wilson knew here well; it must be a trap.

"Well, believe me, or don't. I do want to remind you that if you missed this chance, I don't know if I will offer it again anytime soon. You should hurry back before I change my mind."

She did not only have relationship and family problems; she was about to lose her job too.

Serene's mother was bewildered. "Serene Ludd, you have some serious explaining to do now!"

Serene was cooped up in her room; she did not want to talk to anyone. "Mom, I have nothing to tell you!"

"What do you mean you have nothing to tell me? You f*cked up your blind date, that's one thing. You said that bastard was a freak, but that's fine. I understand that you guys may have different values since you are still young. But why are you about to lose your job now?"
