Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 480

Helen was eating her instant noodles when Verian arrived.

“Lennie, why are you having instant noodles alone? Where is Tyler?”

Helen sounded disheartened. “His grandfather came and picked him up.”

Verian was stunned for a moment. “Tyler’s grandfather? Carter’s father? You’ve never mentioned anything about him before.”

Helen smiled faintly. “Yes. Not only does Carter have a father, but his father is also filthy rich. Everything still feels like a cliché for me. Verian, pinch me hard!”

Verian smiled and sat on the sofa. “Lennie, are you serious?”

“Carter’s father gave me a cheque to fill in.”

Verian let out a laugh. “Don’t tell me he offered you ten million bucks to leave his son.”

Helen held out three fingers. “Sorry. He didn’t just offer me ten million bucks. It was thirty million.”

“You’re quite expensive.”

Helen gave Verian a look and sighed. “Stop making fun of me. I’m worried sick here. How could Carter lie to me? This is a fraud marriage!”

“But isn’t it great that Carter is suddenly rich? Look, in the future when you have a dress that you want, you can buy it without hesitation anymore. You always thought Tyler’s school fees were expensive. Since Carter is so rich, you don’t have to worry about his fees anymore. This is a good thing.”

Helen agreed after listening to Verian, but when she thought of Old Master Gale’s tone, she got worried again. “It’s great that Carter is rich. However, his father doesn’t think so. Besides, we have such a huge gap in our social statuses. How should I face him after this? Maybe we really don’t belong together.”

“Are you…really considering getting a divorce?”

Helen shook her head solemnly. “I don’t know. My mind is a mess right now. I never thought Carter came from such a frightening background. Verian, you have seen more rich people than me. Do you know anything about the capital’s Gale Group?”

The Mont family used to be quite rich too. Verian knew a bit about these upper-class people and corporations. Besides, after she got married to Heaton, she had not really cared about his work. Sometimes, however, she would catch a glimpse of Heaton’s partnership agreements.

The Gale Group. Verian had definitely heard of such a huge corporation.

“I do. It’s a big company. Apparently, they’re involved in many businesses, including finance and petroleum. However, I don’t really know the details. We can look it up online.”

Verian’s words prompted Helen to search this up on the Internet with her.

She immediately pointed at the screen after she saw the very few photos of Old Master Gale that were available online. “This is Old Master Gale that I met today.”

Verian nodded. She touched her chin and remembered that Heaton seemed to know Carter since long before. It was now all starting to make sense.

They might have dealt with each other in business before this.

No wonder Heaton asked her to remind Lennie to look out for any unusual behavior from Carter.

“But Lennie, I don’t get it. Why did Carter pretend to be poor? The Gale family being rich is not something to be ashamed of…”

Helen could not wrap her head around it as well. “I don’t get it either. I did ask him many times before but he always avoided my questions. Thinking back, he’s a total jerk for lying to me for so long!”

While everyone hoped to get wealthy overnight, Helen did not want it to happen this way.

“So, did you call Carter?”

“No, I haven’t made up my mind.”

Since learning the truth, Helen had not dared to make the phone call. She looked downward and sounded upset as she said, “I used to think that I knew Carter very well. But I’ve only realized now that I know nothing about his world. I’m just a fool who says stupid things to him.”

She always reminded him to stay frugal. He was the Gale Group’s successor. Why did he need to be frugal? The last thing he had to ask for was money.

She thought it was expensive for him to rent a Rolls-Royce with eight thousand bucks. Looking back now, that car was probably his own.
