Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 479

Old Master Gale looked calm and dignified as he took out a cheque and pushed it to Helen.

“Ms. Helen, I’m not trying to humiliate you. I don’t want to beat around the bush so I’ll get straight to the point. Carter married you just to go up against me. You’ve spent the best years of your life on such an irrelevant jerk like him. As a father, I feel very guilty for everything my son has done. Feel free to name your price.”

The Old Master made a ‘go ahead’ gesture. It looked like something a wealthy person would do.

Helen laughed and picked up the blank cheque as she said, “So, you’re trying to buy my husband and son from me with this cheque?”

“I can’t help it if you’re going to put it that way. However, you’d better make up your mind before I lose my patience.”

Helen bit her lips and let out a cold hum. “It takes two people to marry each other and it the same when ending a marriage. If Carter really wants a divorce, please ask him to come before me himself.”

“Carter has already gone back to the capital. He’s busy running our firm so he won’t have time to see you. Barring any complications, he’ll never have time for you…”

Helen’s heart trembled as she thought, ‘What? Running a firm?’

‘This old man looked like someone with deep pockets. Is Carter really the son of a wealthy family?’

“Running your firm…?”

“Oh, it seems like Carter never told you about his real identity. Let me tell you this now, Carter is the Gale Group’s successor in the capital.”

Helen was speechless.

Capital? The Gale Group?

Helen was dumbstruck. She had heard of the Gale Group in the capital before. Her company was engaged in business with them. However, she had never imagined that Carter would be the company’s actual successor.

That jerk Carter! He promised he would not hide anything from her! They had been married for three years and yet, she had been kept in the dark for so long!

Grievance and sadness took over her as tears started welling up in her eyes.

Old Master Gale sized her up before saying, “From what I hear, you come from an ordinary background. Carter and you are two different people from two different worlds. Even if you don’t want a divorce with Carter now, have you ever thought that maybe you two just aren’t a good match?”

Helen’s grip on the hem of her skirt gradually tightened.

That thought had crossed her mind dozens of times.

However, that was not a reason to get a divorce.

She refused to believe that Carter married her just to spite his father. Who would have done such a childish thing to put his own marital status at stake? Even if somebody actually did that, Helen trusted that Carter was a stable man who would not do such a thing.

Helen returned the cheque to the Old Master. “Uncle, I’m sorry. I can’t accept what you’re saying and I won’t be filling up this cheque.”

Seeing Helen hesitate, the Old Master thought that she was just too shy to name her price. Because of that, he said, “Since you’re too shy to name your price, I’ll give you thirty million. What do you think about that?”

30 million?

Helen had never come across such an astronomical figure in her life.

Helen let out a faint laugh. “Old Master Gale, your offer is definitely very attractive. I wouldn’t be able to earn so much money in my whole life. However, you want to buy my husband and son from me for thirty million? Isn’t that too cheap? Do you think that your son and grandson are worth only thirty million?”

Old Master Gale’s frown deepened as he felt humiliated. “You!”

Helen grabbed her bag. “Old Master Gale, if there’s nothing else, I’ll make a move first.”

Helen’s heart was in turmoil as she walked out of the tea house.
