They traveled for more than ten hours before arriving at their destination.
The sky was getting dark. At twilight, the weather was not very pleasant but it did not look like it would rain either. It was nice to just whale watch with this type of weather.
Verian was sitting in the RV and gaze out the window. She asked curiously, “The scenery here is great, but why did we drive all the way here from Hawaii island?”
The scenery on Hawaii island was way better than here.
Meanwhile, Heaton had gotten out of the car and was standing beside it. Verian had lowered the window earlier on, so she watched him without any obstructions in between them. As Verian stuck half her body out of the window, Heaton suddenly reached out his arms and carried her out through the widely-opened window straight into his embrace.
Verian yelped in shock. “Hey….. Heaton! Why did you carry me out from the window when there’s a door for me to walk out from?”
Heaton glanced at her. “Don’t you think I’m manly and charming?”
“... Who wants to experience your manly charm? It’s a little dangerous to carry me out from the window!”
“I’m supporting you from beneath. How dangerous can it be? I’ll be your cushion even if you fall.”
Although she was complaining, she felt extremely sweet in the heart. She patted his shoulder and said, “Put me down. What are we supposed to do after coming all the way to this desolate wilderness?”
Heaton and Verian were standing on a huge reef, side by side.
The man locked his intense gaze on her, his tone solemn. “Do you remember? The promise we once made.”
Verian’s hair was messy due to the sea breeze. She lifted her hand up to comb her tousled hair and tuck it behind her ears. Without deliberating deeply about it, she asked, “What promise?”
“When we were at Sea World, I once mentioned I’d drive an RV and bring you to watch whales at the seaside.”
Verian was stunned for a moment and looked at him jubilantly. “You still remember that?”
She thought that it was just a casual promise and did not expect him to remember and fulfill his promise by driving the RV for more than ten hours to the seaside just to watch whales together with her.
“But... Will whales really appear over here?”
Although it would be a spectacular sight to behold by coming to the seaside to watch whales, there was a downside to this as it was unpredictable. No one knew when the whales would surface by the seaside. Some people might not even spot a whale for days, while others might be lucky as soon as they arrived.
Heaton leaned over toward her and his thin lips curved upward. “I believe in my luck, it’s always on my side.”
Verian smiled self-approvingly. “Yeah, your luck has always been great. Especially since you’ve met me, your life has been bursting with unlimited luck and fortune.”
Heaton was speechless.
Mrs. Fudd was getting overconfident in herself.
When they waited for whales to appear, a strong wave suddenly splashed toward the reef. Verian’s footing was not quite stable but Heaton was sharp-witted and quickly held onto her. Luckily the wave dispersed just a few centimeters away from the reef and did not splash fully at the reef so they could avoid soaking their clothes.
Verian seemed to notice many seashells at a beach not far from them. She pulled Heaton’s sleeve. “Let’s pick some beautiful seashells and bring them home for Little Jelly Bean. She’ll surely love the seashells.”
“You want to dismiss the annoying little one with just a few beautiful seashells? It’ll be better if you make some mental preparations now on how to explain this to her when we’re home later.”
Verian pinched his elbow. “You’re the one who secretly brought me out on this honeymoon. Why should I be the one explaining? Heaton! You’re too mean!”
“I want to maintain my strong, fatherly image in Little Jelly Bean’s heart. You should know that when educating children, it’s a must to have the child be afraid of one of the parents. Obviously, Little Jelly Bean is not afraid of you at all.”
Verian crouched down to grasp a handful of sand and threw it at Heaton. “Heaton! You’re really cunning!”
Heaton’s long legs jogged leisurely on the beach as he quickly distanced himself from Verian. Verian kept throwing sand at him as the two of them chased each other happily on the beach. They chased each other a couple of times around the beach.
In the end, Verian became tired and uncomfortable as her shoes were filled with sand. Because of this, she sat on the sand, pretending to be depressed and unwilling to run again.
