“The thing is, you can’t lie to me, okay? You can’t do anything dangerous for Little Jelly Bean, Little Pickle’s and my sake. You have to be a good law abiding citizen, okay?”
Heaton could not help but smile as he said, “Since when have I given you the illusion of me breaking the law to make money?”
“There are way too many people who are blinded by money so what if you’re suddenly tempted by money? I am only reminding you. Keep it up if you’re not breaking the law but stay vigilant.”
Tempted by money?
Madam Fudd might have not known that the only thing Mr. Fudd did not lack was money.
He forgot to mention that he owned several rainforests in Latin America and a few private islands in Australia and India. With the money the government paid him every year as royalty, he amassed an astronomical amount of money from the tourism industry alone.
Money was really just a number to him. No amount of gold or silver mountains would be even a fraction as important as the woman in his arms.
Heaton bent over and tucked her in before lowering his head to kiss Verian’s forehead. He whispered, “My dear wife, from now onward, I will place you and my children first before doing anything, okay?”
Of course it would be okay for her. Heck, that would be more than okay to her.
Verian’s heart felt incredibly sweet. She soon fell asleep with a smile on her face.
…
In Italy, twenty hours later.
Wilson’s body was covered in detectors and monitors.
“Are you guys planning on keeping me locked in here against my will?”
Wilson was furiously staring at Thompson and Ruby.
Thompson shrugged as he said, “Although I’m usually not bold enough to go against you, the director has now given an order that no matter what it takes, we’ll have to fully treat your stomach ailment. If you refuse to cooperate, we’ll have to strap you to your bed then.”
Ruby hugged both of her arms as she told Wilson while staring at him on the bed, “Honestly, seeing you being strapped onto this bed completely stripped of your freedom feels really good in my heart. I feel like I’ve finally gotten my vengeance.”
Thompson was beaming as he said, “I feel incredibly good too. You’re usually the ruthless killer, White Wolf but you’re now strapped onto your own bed like a little lab rat. I feel incredible.”
Both Thompson and Ruby smiled at each other as they high-fived.
Wilson said, “... Just wait till I get out of this bed. You both will pay.”
“Oh my god, I’m terrified. Ruby, why don’t we take a flight to South Africa to hide from him tonight?”
Ruby reached out to hit Thompson’s head. She spoke in a serious tone, “Alright now. Stop pretending. You better save Wilson’s life or else, the Director won’t let you go!”
“I’m pretty sure it’s not the Director who won’t let me go. Instead, you’d be the one after me, right?”
Wilson was frustrated listening to their petty squabbles as his dark gaze turned slightly cold. He said, “Can you both just give me a brief moment of silence? I was feeling just fine both of you started to fight.”
Ruby shrugged him off and went out to the med-bay with Thompson.
Outside the med-bay…
Thompson said, “Do you think he’d commit suicide in the name of love since he’s alone in there?”
Ruby rolled her eyes at him and said, “If he dares commit suicide, I will feed his corpse to the fishes.”
Ruby would be the first person to disagree if Wilson turned out to be one of those idiots who would die for love!
Wilson took out his phone and put his headphones on in the med-bay as he repeatedly listened to the voice message Heaton sent him.
Serene’s voice was in the recording.
His woman even mentioned that even if he turned out to be a dangerous man, she would still be unable to help herself from thinking about him.
He absolutely wanted to have her and to protect her. However, it was just as she mentioned, his identity… was way too dangerous.
