Serene dawdled as she tried to stall for time when she woke up the next morning.
Wilson asked, "Are you ready? We'll go have breakfast now, and I'll get someone to bring you back to North City after that."
Serene stood in the bathroom. As she squeezed her toothpaste, she whined, "I haven't brushed my teeth yet. Why are you in such a hurry?"
Wilson leaned against the bathroom door and stared at her with an amused expression. "This is the second time you brushed your teeth this morning."
Serene answered, "Oh? I can't remember."
She took her time, and finally, she was done. However, she started to dilly-dally again when it was time to get changed.
"I… Can't I stay for a few more days before going back to North City?"
Wilson squinted at her. "Is that why you dawdled the whole morning? because you don't want to leave?"
"I… Can't I stay?"
Wilson sighed softly and pulled her into his embrace. He caressed her hair and coaxed her with his soft voice, "Be a good girl. I'll be back in North City as soon as I can, alright?"
"But I won't be able to contact you once I leave. How are you going to find me in North City?"
As he looked at her anxious face, Wilson laughed. "Where else would you be besides at work and at home? Well, you might go shopping with Heaton's wife as well. I'll call Heaton if I can't reach you."
Serene answered, "Alright, then."
Wilson and Serene were on their way to the airport when Serene suddenly clutched her stomach and said, "I have a tummy ache. I need to go to the toilet now!"
She sped off to a toilet nearby.
Wilson waited for a very long time, but she was still not out yet.
Wilson teased her, "Did you fall into the toilet?"
Serene replied, "No..."
"Can we go now?"
Serene frowned and mumbled, "Why are you in such a hurry to send me away? Another woman's boyfriend would want them to stay longer, but you're telling me to leave every single day."
"I would've asked you to stay if I thought you'd be safe here. Come on, be a good girl."
Wilson grabbed Serene's hand and led them toward the airport.
"But my stomach is starting to hurt again. Can't I leave another day?"
"Serene, there are toilets on the airplane."
Serene answered, "Oh..."
Wilson let go of Serene's hand after they arrived at the gate. He stared at her and said, "Go on; they'll get you back to North City safely."
Serene knew she could no longer make up any excuses. She nodded; she sobbed after she turned around.
She did not know when they would meet each other again. What if he had to carry out some dangerous mission during that period?
As she was about to enter the plane, Serene turned around and ran into Wilson's arms. She wrapped her arms around Wilson's neck tightly.
"Keep safe and come back to North City alive."
"I will."
After a few moments of embrace, Serene loosened her hold on him and stared at the man with her bloodshot eyes. She sniffled and said, "Remember to eat your meals on time and take care of your stomach."
"Alright."
"Then, I'll leave now."
"Go on."
Serene bit her lips. "I'm leaving…"
Wilson laughed faintly as he took her slender arms off his neck. "Get on the plane now; they've been waiting for quite some time."
