Gwen sneered. "Your boyfriend? You mean my cousin?"
Serene frowned. "What do you mean?"
Wilson had no family; he could not have had a cousin.
Gwen smiled provokingly. "You don't even know about my cousin? It seems like you don't know him very well. My cousin's name is Wilson Jarret."
Serene was stunned. Wilson never told her that he had a cousin. Furthermore, why did he not tell her that his cousin was Chainer's girlfriend when he already knew about it?
"You seemed surprised. You had no idea that my cousin is deceiving you all this while, right? Well, that's possible; why would a rich and prominent man like my cousin fall for a woman like you? He's only dating you for fun, and he'll dump you once the excitement wears off."
Verian could not stand it any longer. "What nonsense! Keep your mouth shut if you have nothing nice to say. How can you speak so confidently after ruining other people's relationships? You have no shame at all, do you?"
Gwen was so angry that her face paled. "You—"
Chainey recognized Verian immediately because her marriage to Heaton caused a sensation in North City. The whole upper-class community knew that she was Heaton's wife.
Gwen wanted to talk back at her, but Chainey stopped her and whispered in her ear, "Stop arguing with her; she is Heaton Fudd's wife. Heaton might come after us if we mess with her."
She was unwilling to back down, but Gwen could only grit her teeth and hummed in reply.
Serene ridiculed Chainer when she saw him chickened out. "Chainer, you'd better leave with your fiancée; Heaton, Verian's husband, will be here in five minutes."
Verian was speechless.
Verian waved her hands at Chainer and Gwen with a half-smile. "Yes, you'd better leave now. Otherwise, it will be difficult for you to get away once my husband arrives. He's a vicious guy."
Chainer and Gwen were flustered, although they pretended to stay calm.
"We're not afraid of you guys. There's nothing much to shop here anyway. Come on, Gwen, let's go to the movies."
Chainer dragged Gwen away.
Verian stared at the back of the two people as they left. "I never knew Heaton's name would come in handy. His mere name scared that filthy couple away."
Serene made a face and said, "That's because President Fudd is a vicious guy."
Verian looked at Serene. "Your man is way more vicious. He would simply kill a person if they were to piss him off."
Serene was speechless.
That was right; Wilson was more brutal.
…
Serene and Verian had a hot-pot feast.
They ordered two portions of everything on the menu. The waiter had initially stared at them skeptically; he wondered if two slender ladies like them could finish such a large amount of food. However, the two women had already polished off the food when the waiters cleared the table.
"Wow, those two ladies can surely eat. They had two portions of everything. There's no more space left on the table, but they did eat everything."
"Women these days are big eaters. They ate more than 1000 bucks worth of food!"
The waiters were speechless.
…
Heaton had only got out of a meeting when his phone buzzed.
He was not fond of texting, but since Verian liked texting instead of calling each other, he gradually developed a habit of reading messages and checking his social media.
He received a transaction message from the bank.
"She spent over a thousand bucks at a hot-pot restaurant!"
Heaton's eyes darkened.
Nothing good ever happened whenever Verian hung out with Serene. They would always go to hot-pot or barbecue restaurants whenever they go shopping. One could eat many dishes with 1000 bucks at the hot-pot restaurant they usually went to.
How much did those two women eat?
