A pleasant weekend had gone by, and Wilson was happy to play 'house husband' while Serene was at work.
Serene was worried that Wilson might get lonely in the house, so she got a Scottish Fold cat from a pet store for him.
Not only did Wilson have to cook meals and do the chores at home, but he also had to take care of his pet cat.
Wilson had wanted her to move in with him, but she was still a conservative woman. She thought it was inappropriate for them to live together if they were not married.
Wilson did not even go back to his apartment; he had stuck around in her small apartment.
Wilson decided to talk to the landlord to buy the small apartment unit.
Serene only learned about that fact when she contacted her landlord to pay her rent.
Serene looked at the man with a grim expression. "Why did you buy this apartment without discussing it with me?"
"I have money, and I have nowhere to spend it."
Serene's lips twitched.
She sat far away from him on the sofa and munched on her chips; her eyes were fixed on the TV. It was apparent that she was mad.
Wilson moved to sit next to her. He coaxed her gently, "You won't move in with me, and I have been staying at your house and depending on you these days. I'm a man; how can I continue to do that?"
"Now that you've bought this apartment, my place has become yours. I feel uncomfortable here now."
Serene had a proper job and a steady income. She was used to spending her own money. Even if she knew Wilson was rich, she would never take advantage of him.
Wilson knew that she was a good woman. That was why he loved her even more.
"Baby, we don't have to be so calculative. What's mine is yours, too. If you think you are taking advantage of me, then you can compensate me."
Serene was curious, "How? I can pay you rent?"
…
The second day, Serene's back ached as she went to work.
What an exhausting way to pay rent!
