Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 583

After taking a glance at it, Thompson excitedly exclaimed, “That’s right! That’s the Southern Star herb!”

Ruby ordered, “Stop wasting time already! Hurry up and complete the antidote!”

Serene had calmed down from feeling extremely anxious earlier as she said, “Thanks for saving me earlier, Ruby.”

Ruby had her usual neutral look on her face as she said, “You only ran into the pack of wolves because you wanted to pick the Southern Star herb. On the other hand, Wilson was injured because of me. Therefore, it’s my duty to save you. If you were eaten by the pack of wolves tonight, I won’t be able to face Wilson when he wakes up.”

Serene lowered her gaze, bit her lips, and said, “I’m sorry for causing you guys to worry about me. I know I shouldn’t have wandered off alone to add onto the burden you guys are already shouldering.”

It was rare for Ruby to not blame her and instead, she merely gave her a calm glance. She said, “Don’t take another risk like that ever again in the future. You’re different from us. You basically have little to no ability to defend yourself and when Wilson wakes up only to find out you’ve been devoured by a pack of wolves, he’d be devastated.”

“I’m sorry. I just didn’t want to sit around and wait. I was worried that you guys might not be able to find the Venom Toad or the Southern Star herb and Wilson would die…”

Ruby was surprisingly not disgusted when she looked at Serene while she was crying. This was because she usually absolutely resented whenever someone was crying.

“I think I understand why Wilson picked you now.”

Serene was a little surprised as she looked up at Ruby.

Ruby continued, “Even though you lacked the ability to defend yourself, you’d still fight for Wilson no matter the cost. Serene, I’ve lost. You love Wilson even more than I’d imagined.”

After Wilson took the antidote Thompson had made, all of the toxins were neutralized in his body. However, due to the amount of poison his body had previously sustained, he was still unconscious.

Since Serene was out the entire day, on top of the roller coaster of emotions she had to experience, her entire body felt extremely exhausted when she finally relaxed.

She sat by Wilson’s side as she watched over him. She gently ran her white, slender fingers across his brows and down the bridge of his nose.

As she stared at him, she rested her chin on both hands while giggling gleefully.

When Ruby wanted to bring Serene some food and just as she was about to enter the tent, she could clearly see how silly she looked as she giggled at herself while staring at Wilson who was lying in bed.

She smiled and did not intrude.

Serene felt hungry, so she fished out a few pieces of chocolates from her pocket before unwrapping the gold foil wrapper and shoving a piece into Wilson’s mouth before eating another herself.

While resting her chin on both palms, she stared at Wilson and said, “Wilson, when are you going to wake up? I have so much to tell you.”

Serene stayed by Wilson’s side until she could no longer keep her eyes open. She fell asleep by Wilson’s side.

Serene was in a daze while she slept. In her semi-conscious state, her body felt like it was being carried onto the soft bed by two strong arms. She buried herself into the man’s warm and firm chest.

Wilson stared at the woman in his arms as she nuzzled up against him like a little kitten.

The man gently brushed his fingers against the dark circles around her eyes. It seemed she had been staying by his side for the past two days and did not get much sleep.

Wilson’s heart wrenched as he lowered his head to kiss her forehead.
