"The guy you brought home yesterday is still here."
Verian unconsciously lifted her head to look around the room upon hearing what Heaton said. It was not because she felt guilty but rather, due to her own survival instincts!
"Where is he?"
Heaton spoke in a relaxed manner, "He's right in front of you."
Verian stared at him. One second, two seconds, three seconds… She then burst out into fits of laughter.
"Why are you trying to scare me? Heaton, you're so mean."
However, Heaton said solemnly, "I won't allow this to happen again. If I catch you drinking in the middle of the night and flirting with other guys again, I don't know what I'll do."
Grabbing the knife and fork with his slender hands, Heaton violently cut his sandwich into half as soon as he was done talking.
Verian's eyes trembled as she said, "Honey, I promise you I won't drink outside anymore. It was only once… Moreover, I was with Yanny, not some random guys. I wasn't cheating on you with men."
In regard to that, the man was fine. However, this woman was…completely clueless.
Heston felt uncomfortable whenever the scene of Verian and Yanny hugging each other and crossing cups yesterday flashed across his mind.
He had to stop her from hanging out with her again in the future.
Verian thought everything was over after breakfast. She even said, "Let me clean the table up! Aunt Heidy is not at home but since you're back, let's pick up the kids together!"
Verian was about to walk into the kitchen with the dirty dishes when she heard Heaton say, "Put the dishes down. The abacus is still waiting for you."
Verian was left speechless.
Slightly stunned, she did not know how to react. "What? What abacus are you talking about?"
Why did she have a bad feeling about this?
"I used to ask you to write apology letters but it seems like those don’t work. So, we'll try something else this time and that’s kneeling on an abacus."
Verian's face fell immediately. "Are you serious?"
Heaton looked at her as though he was saying, 'Do I look like I'm kidding?'
...
It was half an hour later.
Verian's cries could be heard from the living room. " I’ll never go out drinking again."
"What else?"
Verian glared at Heaton who was reading a business magazine on the sofa as she said in an aggrieved tone, "I’ll never flirt with handsome guys again. However, yesterday was really just an accident!"
She swore she was just trying to tease Heaton...
"What else?"
Verian was confused. "Is there still something else? What else did I do wrong?"
Seaton tossed the magazine aside, uncrossing his legs as he got up and walked toward her. She said, "You're not allowed to hang out alone with Yanny again."
"What? But Yanny isn’t a guy."
She was really confused this time.
In Heaton's point of view, Yanny was more dangerous because she was not a man!
Heaton said in a serious manner, "Yanny just broke up with Jinn so she thinks that all men in this world are bastards. She's going to paint men with the same brush now, so it’s not good letting you hang out with her. She might influence you.”
Verian thought about it and it seemed like what Heaton said was true. "Yanny did tell me that all men will cheat on their partner yesterday. However, she's deeply hurt by Jinn so you can't blame her for that. Plus, I'm her friend now so I should stay by her side at times like these."
Heaton pursed his lips. Was Yanny out of her mind? Did her sexual preference change after getting hurt by Jinn?
"I don't know whether all men will cheat on their partner. However, your husband will never cheat on you."
