Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 636

Ruby rushed back after two hours.

Serene noticed Ruby’s distraught look when she returned to the mansion.

Serene had made some fried rice as she asked, “I’ve made some fried rice. Are you planning on eating though? Do you want some?”

Ruby grabbed the back of her chair and gave it a little squeeze before slowly sitting herself down. She did not seem to look fine.

Serene asked in a concerned tone, “Are you feeling under the weather?”

“No, let’s just eat.”

While they were still eating, Ruby suddenly placed her chopsticks down, gulped and spoke in a deep voice, “Serene.”

“What’s the matter?”

“There’s something I need to tell you.”

The corner of Serene’s eyes twitched and she seemed to have sensed that something was not right so she stuttered, “Did… something happen to Wilson?”

Ruby took a deep breath and crossed her fingers as she said, “He ran into Stephen at Robinson Island. Thompson told me that Wilson got shot more than once and both of them somehow fell into the ocean.”

Serene was speechless.

She opened her mouth but nothing came out and she was completely stunned.

After a brief moment, Serene’s voice sounded like a harp that had a broken string. She silently sobbed and said, “So… So, Wilson had fallen into the ocean but no one has found him yet?”

“Yeah. No one has found him yet.”

Ruby dared not tell her that Wilson might actually be one of the bodies picked up from the ocean.

Serene did not wish to witness such a scene. Ruby was just explaining to her based on what Thompson had told her. Wilson was in a very dire situation now and the possibility of him surviving was excruciatingly low.

Serene’s eyes were completely filled with tears but she held them back. She seemed completely lost and even her hands were shaking while holding onto her chopsticks. However, she spoke in an intentionally calm tone, “It’s good news if they haven’t found Wilson yet since that means there’s still a chance for him to be alive. Wilson is such a capable man and he will return home alive! He’s promised me that he will return home safely… He will.”

Serene could no longer hold her tears back as they fell from her eyes when she said that and she continued, “Because he told me that we will be having another child when he returns home. We still have to return to North City to open up a pickled vegetables and fish shop… He promised… he promised me…. He won’t die… wuuu…”

Fear, terror and hopelessness were all mixed together within her. Such a feeling felt like she was suspended on a cliff and if she was not focused even the slightest bit, she would fall and be smashed into a million pieces.

Ruby got up and walked over to Serene. She finally reached out and hugged Serene’s shaky little shoulders.

Ruby stood in front of her and gently patted her shoulder. She then comforted her, “I have already sent someone over to Robinson Island and I believe we will have an answer real soon.”

Robinson Island…

Serene raised her head and stared at Ruby with a pair of pleading red eyes. She said, “Can you send me to Robinson Island instead? I want to look for Wilson!”

“A war has just ended on Robinson Island. It’s still very chaotic. You shouldn’t go there at this time.”

“But Wilson’s fate is still uncertain. I don’t care if there’s a war or not… wuuu…”

Serene was crying like a little child and for the first time, Ruby actually agreed to her futile efforts.

Ruby, Frost Blade and Serene departed to Robinson Island.

….

After a day of flying in the helicopter, they arrived at Robinson Island.
