At the borders of Robinson Island.
“Director, the Dark Organization’s methods of using puppet assassins is far too efficient. Those puppets are basically bullet sponges. They just won’t die even if we shoot them. We should probably start blowing them up with explosives! However, we can’t possibly waste all of our explosives on them, right! If we used all of our most advanced weapons on them, what will we have left to fall back on?”
Wilson frowned as he stared at the map. His expressions seemed serious as he said, “If we keep fighting with A Country’s forces, we might actually end up losing since we’ve already exhausted plenty of resources already. The puppet assassins are terrifying, but they have to have a weakness.”
Both Thompson and Wilson were studying the map when Wilson noticed a swamp on Robinson Island.
The man pointed at the swamp with his long fingers. He said, “If we can lure those puppets to this swamp, we would be able to save a lot of explosives.”
Thompson’s eyes lit up as he said, “That’s an amazing idea. Since bullets don’t do much to them, why don’t we just sink them into the swamp? They won’t be able to climb back up. Hahaha.”
Wilson took a glance at the weather outside and said, “Have you looked at the weather predictions yet?”
Thompson replied confidently, “I’ve long since looked into it. Robinson Island is humid and prone to constant bouts of rainfall. The heavy fog tonight will be a great help for us.”
“We’ll strike tonight then.”
Thompson high-fived Wilson and said, “Awesome idea! It’s decided then. We’ll kill those zombies tonight!”
Hmm, how interesting.
…
Glimmers of light flickered over Robinson Island at night. Due to the heavy fog, they could not see anything past five meters.
Before they departed, Wilson was sitting by the stairway in their military camp. He was holding onto the red bracelet in his hands. His gaze seemed warm and gentle.
Thompson walked over to him, patting his shoulder before sitting next to him. He said, “You’re still thinking about that woman of yours?”
Wilson kept the red bracelet away in the pockets of his military fatigues.
Thompson asked, “Are you still going to stay in the Light Organization after this battle?”
“If nothing goes wrong, I’ll resign as the director.”
“What a coincidence. I was also planning on quitting this job. I also want to find myself a soulmate after seeing you guys all getting into relationships. It’s not fun being in constant battle, you know.”
Wilson smiled as he said, “We will only know how to appreciate a calm and peaceful life after spending so much time staining our guns with blood.”
“Yeah. I hope we’ll still get the chance to gather together for some drinks while staring at the moon after we quit the Light Organization and this battle.”
Thompson then placed his arm on Wilson’s shoulder. However, Wilson pulled his arm away as he said in a distasteful tone, “Who wants to look at the moon with you. Just do it with your soulmate.”
Thompson crossed his arms before pointing at Wilson as he said, “So now that you have Serene, you’ll forget all about your friends, huh! Wilson, why didn’t I know you were such a person back then?”
“If you’d found out about it back then, would I still be able to trick you into risking your life together with mine?”
The corners of Thompson’s mouth twitched as he was speechless…
How ruthless indeed!
…
In the middle of the night in Z Country.
Serene was sound asleep while she cuddled up with a pillow. Wilson’s manly scent was still present on the pillow. Wilson had been away from her for quite a number of days now and she had almost finished eating all the candy he left for her in the jar. Serene no longer had the heart to eat more.
Serene’s eyelids had been twitching recently as she constantly prayed for Wilson in her heart. She prayed for his safety.
Serene did not sleep well a few nights ago. Tonight, however, she slept quite soundly. Perhaps it was due to her fatigue from not sleeping well a few nights ago.
