Both figures were cuddling each other underneath the moonlight. The man was hugging the woman’s soft body tightly.
Wilson stared into the woman’s teary eyes as his heart wrenched, “Why are you still crying when I’m safely at home now?”
Serene gritted her teeth and replied in a slightly furious tone, “Why didn’t you come back to me sooner? I actually thought you were dead. Do you have any idea how long I’ve spent crying alone? Wilson Jarret… I will never allow you… never allow you to just disappear on me ever again! Seventeen days! Seventeen whole days! Have you ever considered that I will miss you?”
The man stared intensely at her with his dark eyes. There was a subtle flash of sorrow in his eyes as he said, “Of course I know that you will miss me and I also wanted to rush back as soon as possible. I also know that you must’ve not eaten or slept well these days.”
“Then, what took you so long? Ruby and I went to Robinson Island to look for you but the rescuers said that you’re dead. I refused to believe them. There is one candy left in the candy that you left for me and I could not bear to eat the last one. I just wanted to wait for your return…”
A cold breeze was blowing outside as Wilson carried the woman in his arms and strode back into the house.
When they entered the room, Wilson sat on the bed while Serene sat on his lap. Wilson sighed while he gently patted her head and said, “I don’t dare to die. Come on now, I haven’t married you yet and besides, I still owe you a child. Who is going to marry you and give you a child if I die?”
“I’m glad that you understand that. So, if you dare die on me, I will marry another man and have a child with that man!”
Wilson knew she did not mean her threats so he gave her waist a squeeze with his huge hand. He noticed her waist had slimmed down significantly so he frowned slightly, “What on earth did Ruby make for you during the days that I’m not around? Why are you this skinny now?”
Serene glared at him before rolling her eyes at him. She mumbled, “It’s not Ruby’s fault! I’ve only lost weight from missing you and thinking that you’re dead…”
As Wilson stared at her serious little face. He chuckled after a brief moment and said, “So, that’s how it happened?”
Previously, he had put in a lot of effort in preparing her meals when she had a miscarriage. It took him a lot of effort to get her to gain some weight. However, it seemed like that brat actually lost weight after he left.
Wilson lowered to nuzzle her little nose compassionately. He whispered, “I will spend everyday with you from now on and that way, you’d be able to see me everyday so maybe you’d gain some weight?”
“You liar. You told me that this would be your final goodbye before you went into the warzone. But… But I actually thought that I won’t be able to see you ever again. Your level of trust has been significantly reduced in my heart.”
“I only did that just so that I can spend forever with you. Hence, I was away longer this time. I’m sorry for making you think that I’m dead. Babe, I assure you that a situation like this will only happen once. Never again.”
When he decided to do it back then, it took him a long time to convince himself to do so since he was absolutely worried that Serene might not be able to accept the revelation of his accident.
Serene was a little confused as she asked, “What do you mean?”
“If I could return home safely, I’m worried that the president might not be willing to let me go that easily. The intentions of powerful people can be terrifying. Maybe he might even use you against me. Moreover, I’ve even considered that even if I quit the organization, I’ve previously made plenty of enemies and I won’t be able to actually break free from this life.”
“So… you intentionally pulled this trick in order to make people think that you’re actually dead?”
“Since I have already decided to live a peaceful life with you, I started thinking about how I was going to leave that life behind. Hence, from this moment on, the White Wolf is dead and all that remained in this world is you, Serene. I never belonged to any countries thus I’m not obligated to work for any organization of any country. All I’m going to do now is serve my Serene Ludd.”
Serene’s heart trembled violently as she stared at him with teary eyes. She then spoke in a coquettish manner, “I don’t want you to serve me. All I want from you is for you to live well!”
Wilson smiled as he said, “Alright then. I will fulfil Madam Jarret’s wishes!”
“Who’s Madam Jarret? I haven’t agreed to marry you yet. I’m still angry so you better start thinking about how you’re going to cheer me up!”
The man was hugging her slender little waist with his huge hand as he lowered his head to kiss her. He said, “Well then, will it be better if I spend a lifetime cheering you up?”
After the both of them kissed, Serene suddenly recalled something while she blushed. She said, “Wilson, I thought you faked your death? Would the president or his underlings know about you when you suddenly came for me in Z Country? Should we rush back to North City?”
Wilson smiled as he stared at her serious little face. He hugged her little body while leading her outside. He said, “I’m here to pick you up tonight.”
Serene stomped her feet before saying, “But I haven’t packed anything yet!”
“Leave it.”
