Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 714

Ruby scoffed and said, “I didn’t expect R Country’s president to be this inhumane and cruel. So in order to get the information you want, you guys would resort to branding. Go on ahead then. As long as there’s still breath in my lungs, I will leave you guys with ten brand marks for every single one I have on me in the future.”

When she made that statement, she glared fiercely toward her torturers. Her gaze felt bone-chilling and intimidated everyone who was armed at that moment. How ironic it was, since she was the one being held captive and instead, all her captors were completely shaken by her fiery gaze.

In that instant, not a single person dared to step forward. They were just standing there completely frozen with the branding iron.

Upon noticing the idle guards, the secretary yelled, “What are you guys standing there for? Are you guys hoping to get branded as well?”

The guard stepped forward hesitantly. However, the secretary snatched the branding iron from him and immediately seared Ruby’s chest!

Sizzle, hiss…

The scent of burned flesh filled the air

“Ah…!”

Ruby passed out immediately from the pain.

The guard stepped forward and carefully examined Ruby as he said, “Mr. Secretary, she’s passed out.”

“Should I be teaching you guys what to do next? Wake her up by splashing cold water on her! Continue the interrogation!”

The secretary scoffed before tossing the branding iron back into the furnace. He then turned around and left.

Drip, drip.

During the night, the silence was deafening aside from the sounds of dripping water in the dimly lit, humid dungeon.

After Ruby regained consciousness from being splashed by cold water, she endured another round of whipping by the guards for a really long time. However, due to the number of injuries she sustained on her body, the torture no longer felt painful to her.

Her senses were completely numb at this point.

The guards could no longer keep up and decided to go to sleep.

Ruby was suspended and it seemed she was drifting in and out of consciousness. Whenever she passed out, it would feel like she had slept for a really long time. However, she would be woken up by a sharp pain. The pain was so agonizing to her, she would instinctively call out for Blaine to come and save her.

However, she was unsure in all honesty if Blaine would actually show up to save her or not.

She was nothing more than a little pet Blaine picked up in a sudden spur of interest and was only using Blaine for her own gain. If Blaine actually showed up to save her, turning against the President would be inevitable for him. Would Blaine actually turn against the President for an insignificant person like her?

Ruby felt uncertain.

The only thing she knew now was that no mission the Light Organization assigned would be easy. Every mission was a gamble with one’s life.

Escaping this dungeon alive was already an uncertainty for her right now. Hence, returning to Z Country or even the Light Organization was currently just an afterthought.

The most ironic thing for her right now was the fact that she had not even thought about her escape. It would be pointless anyway since escaping this dungeon right now was impossible for her. The only thing was, she was actually thinking about the fact that she had not gotten a single, glorious and romantic relationship despite being eighteen, the last memory of her life being the days she spent with Blaine.

She always had feelings for Wilson but was still unable to sleep with him. Moreover, she was not even sure if Blaine actually loved her or not since he had not exactly fallen for her trap yet. Not to mention, she once told herself that she would make an enormous amount of money and retreat to a lavish mansion in a paradise of her own. She was also unable to do that. It would be too unfortunate if she were to die now when she wanted to be an accomplished woman.

Blaine would show up because he told her he already had feelings for her.

The night was long and after her adrenaline rush was over, the pain was slowly starting to return. The pain she felt was not from a simple flesh wound since every lash from each whipping cut her skin to the bone. Even a slight twitch of her muscles made her feel like her body was being run over by a truck. She was in so much agonizing pain, she actually felt like crying.

In the eighteen years Ruby had lived, she recalled having never once shed a single tear even when she was bullied by the other orphanage children. This had caused her to starve because she knew crying was useless and solved nothing. She would much rather save her strength to continue surviving.

People like her knew how useless crying actually was. However, the pain was too overwhelming for her, radiating all over her limbs and every single organ in her body.

‘Hurry up. Come and save me, please…Blaine.’

She could no longer hold on.
