They had breakfast together when they arrived at the cafeteria.
Ruby drank some soup and said, "Don't you misunderstand me though, I'm only going to stay here for a few days. Don't even think about making me stay here with you for a year and a half."
"Where are you returning to anyway?"
Ruby raised her brows and replied in a carefree tone, "Of course I'll be returning to my home. I'll have you know that I too have a mansion of my own and I don't have to depend on anyone else."
"You were fired from the Light Organization. No one will be able to protect you if you return to Z Country."
Ruby pouted her lips and said, "Do I really need anyone's protection with the skills I have? Besides, my mansion is well equipped with defense systems. No one will be able to storm my mansion. You know, my mansion is the safest place for me to sleep in."
Blaine picked up a piece of nugget and shoved it in her mouth, stopping her from saying anything else.
"I don't want to hear anything about you leaving me so just focus on eating your food."
Not to mention, she even made that statement in such a carefree manner. How heartless indeed.
Ruby took a furious bite from that nugget before saying, "Are you going to allow me to leave this place or not?"
"Oh Softie, you've just recovered your memories. Don't you think you should interact with me even more now?"
Blaine was a little annoyed at how little she cared.
Ruby puffed up her cheeks as she ate the nugget. She said, "Look, I won't look for another man when I'm back home nor do you have to worry about seeing me pregnant when you return after a year and a half."
Blaine's face looked bitter before throwing his bowl onto the table as he coldly exclaimed, "So, you're saying that you won't fall in love with another man nor would you fall in love with me as well?"
Ruby was speechless.
The man's mind and his ability to twist words around was impressive.
"I never said that I won't ever love you."
The only thing was, it would only be a matter of time before her identity was exposed if she remained here. When that happened, it would cause him more harm than good.
She could wait for a year and a half for him but she was unwilling to wait for him here in this military base.
Even though he had been willing to wait ten whole years for her, it was inevitable for him to vent his pent up frustrations when he did not receive the reply he wanted, especially when he was still offended at her marrying Wilson and suffering so much on Wilson's side. He was offended when she expressed her unwillingness to stay even for a little while longer with him here.
How else would Blaine think of her?
"So, you're willing to die with White Wolf but you feel bad and want to enjoy life now that you're here with me?"
Every statement he made was enough to hurt anyone.
Ruby threw her nugget down and furiously glared at Blaine with her beautiful beady eyes as she said, "What are you trying to say, Blaine?"
"Are you really unsure of what I meant?"
Blaine left immediately after taking just a few bites.
Ruby cursed as she sat there alone. She nearly flung her bowl of soup away out of frustration.
'Goddammit! Why is dating someone such a pain!'
She did not have the same frustrations when she pursued Wilson back then.
She was bored out of her mind the entire day.
Blaine left with the soldiers after breakfast.
Ruby fell asleep as she waited in bed for a really long time.
When Blaine returned in a very frustrated mood, he noticed the sleeping woman in bed with her head tilted to the side.
Ruby slept light. She woke up when she heard Blaine's footsteps.
The instant Ruby met Blaine's gaze, she immediately pulled the covers over her head, ignoring him.
Blaine seemed to have scoffed as he took his jacket off and threw it on his chair before mockingly saying to her, "I thought you're leaving? Why are you still here then?"
Ruby did not roll with his punches as she pulled the covers aside and said, "Oh that's right, I haven't said goodbye to you yet."
