Passionate Devotion: Master Fudd's Beloved Wife novel Chapter 789

Although Boyle had beaten Caleb into a pulp, Boyle's face was not completely unscathed either.

Both Layla and Cherie brought Boyle to the infirmary.

The campus doctor was currently dressing the wound at the corner of Boyle's mouth.

Cherie peeked her head through the door as she observed everything going on in the inside.

Layla had a bitter look on her face as she stood beside Boyle in the infirmary.

"How could you act so impulsive, Boyle? If Caleb doesn't drop the issue and actually goes to get his injuries assessed and submits the report to the school's board, you’ll face disciplinary actions from the school."

Boyle remained silent as he only forced a slight frown, completely ignoring Layla.

Layla felt a little displeased as she continued, "This is your final year. If you face any form of disciplinary action, the consequences will be really serious. You've worked so hard to get to where you are now, and yet you…"

"Enough, Layla."

Boyle cut her off as he frowned harder.

The school's doctor was a fifty-year-old elderly man wearing a pair of extremely thick glasses. He asked Boyle with a smile, "Which one is your girlfriend? The one standing by the door seems as if her eyes are about to fall out from staring at you for so long."

The one inside had quite a lot to say.

Layla pouted her lips and seemed quite anxious to hear Boyle's answer.

Boyle casually replied, "None of them. You’re mistaken."

The old doctor was speechless.

'Hmph, serves this brat right to be single.'

"It's all done. There shouldn't be too much of a problem. Just try not to get your wound in contact with any water."

Just as Boyle was about to walk out of the infirmary, he met Cherie's concerned gaze by the door.

"Does it hurt, Boyle?"

Layla was unhappy as she said, "Look at how badly he’s been beaten. How could it not hurt?"

Cherie felt a little bad as he had gotten injured because of her. She pouted her lips as she lowered her beady eyes.

Boyle stared at the depressed little girl who seemed like a child that had something done wrong. However, he was unsure why he actually calmly replied to her, "Don't worry about it, I'm fine."

The woman immediately raised her little face and shot an innocent smile at him as she said through her row of pearly white teeth, "I’m glad you're okay."

Boyle held back the temptation to pat her little head.

His throat twitched.

Layla reminded him, "We should get going, Boyle. We still need to meet the professor at noon."

Boyle nodded. Although he seemed cold, he walked away with Layla.

At that moment, Cherie received a phone call from Whitney. She asked Cherie where she was and they soon agreed to meet up at the cafeteria.

After ordering their food when they arrived at the cafeteria, Cherie and Whitney ran into Boyle and Layla again.

Cherie and Whitney shamelessly brought their trays along with them and walked over to their table.

Whitney asked, "Are any of the seats around you taken, Boyle?"

"No."

Cherie and Whitney sat with them.

Originally, Boyle and Layla were sitting facing each other. Now however, Cherie sat next to Boyle, while Whitney sat beside Layla.

Layla had completely lost her appetite since she had gone through so much today. All the incidents combined soured her mood for the rest of the day.

Cherie raised her chin in a smug manner while she ate. Since no one was Boyle's official girlfriend yet, did it not mean they were in a somewhat fair competition against each other at the moment?

Not to mention, Boyle made no remarks of her being annoying, so what right did Layla even have to send her away?

The entire atmosphere felt very awkward.

Whitney let out an awkward cough before saying, "Thank you for everything today, Boyle. You should really treat Boyle to a meal next time, Cherie!"

Before Cherie could say anything, Boyle immediately interjected, "There's no need for that."

This remark made Layla feel slightly better as she knew Boyle was completely uninterested in the little brat and was nothing more than another random student to him.

Layla took a glance at Boyle's plate and noticed he only had vegetables, so she placed a piece of chicken on it.
